The Stars current look, aside from their now third jersey, is the worst in hockey.

I'm watching a replay of the Panthers and Hurricanes game, and those new Panther thirds are terrible.

I'm very confused as to where these colors came from for Florida, the light blue looks really bad. Replace the light blue with red and it wouldn't be too bad.

I'm not a huge fan of the chest logo either. I'm an anti-word mark anti-circular/wordmark type hockey jerseys.

The diagnol look is classic for the Rangers, and I'm still iffy on whether I like the Lightning ones or not.

It would work better for the Lightning if they actually used "Lightning" instead of the amateur-hour "BOLTS" script. The "BOLTS" thing is especially sad when you consider that the sweater itself is pretty nice.

The Stars should honor their franchise roots and go with a green and gold uniform. And yes, I am a bit biased, but am still a Stars fan. :)

They should take this green sweater design....

....and replace the N/star logo with either the primary mark of the Texas/D/star alternate mark.

That's what ruins that jersey for me. The blue sweater is sharply designed and looks awesome sandwiched between the black helmets and black pants (not a fan of the socks, but I can live with them), but I hate that it says "Bolts" on it. You're not the "Bolts", you're the "lightning". Leave the nicknames of nicknames for fans to use in conversation and arena chants, but when wearing an official representation of your team then I think you should use your official name.

now the counter argument to this is always, "the Jays, D-backs, minnesota timberwolves, sens, blazers, sonics. they all have their nicknames of their nickname on their jerseys." No, they have abbreviations of the official team nickname on their jerseys, that isn't ideal to me, but I'll give it a pass because it's at least derived from the official name. Tampa Bay using "Bolts" would be akin to the Cleveland Indians using a third jersey that says "Tribe", or the Phoenix Coyotes wearing a third that says "Dawgs". It's silliness.

Don't even get me started on the Portland Trail Blazers and their "Rip City" alternates.

This post is more food for thought than it is actual established and credited knowledge, but I have another wild Blue Jackets third jersey rumor to report. Some dude on hfboards (I told you it wasn't substantiated) is going around saying that the cannon logo that is on the front of the jersey will be shooting a cannon-ball and said cannon-ball will be neon green.

The likelihood that this is true is close to 0, but it's interesting to think about. The original uniforms had neon green in the stick of the primary logo and in the stinger head shoulder patch. It also appeared on many of players' gloves. It added a little flavor to the navy and red color scheme that is everywhere in sports. Personally, I don't think coloring a cannon-ball green is the right way to fit some team history into this third jersey, and when has a cannon-ball ever been neon green ever?

The jerseys will be debuted November 24 at the mall by my house. If it isn't leaked before then (and I'm a little surprised that it hasn't already), then I just might have to be there with my cellphone camera.

Icethetics posted this 2 weeks ago with a rumor about the Jackets logo:

BlueJacketsMask.png

The logo on the forehead of the helmet.

Like the rumored jerseys, it's only blue and gray. It's a logo that I can't think of ever seeing in regards to the Blue Jackets. It is a cannon logo. And this product was taken down at somepoint, but it's still in the NHLShop.com registry. So they could be covering it up.

What do you guys think?

I am predicting the old Blues/North Stars/Iowa Stars template, with either the Dallas "Star" on its own, or as part of the tertiary Texas-Star-D logo, in a circle, with the words "Dallas Stars" around it in some old timey font or, even better, bolded bank gothic.

Book it.

Don't forget the fake lace-up.

EXACTLY.

We waited SO long for a blue jersey, and when we finally get one, they go "gimmicky" on us.

*facepalm*

The Lightning 3rd should be a blue version of the home/away, with the primary crest logo...minus the words "Tampa Bay". It makes too much sense for them to ever do it.

If not they should adapt the cup winning uniforms to the Edge template and just simplify the striping a bit.

That would look nice actually.

Aside from ripping off an all-star sweater template, here's another reason to hate the Stars' Cup-winning sweaters...

The star patter in the hem striping doesn't line up with the star in the logo.

yeah, those Star pattern uniforms were always a favorite of mine until someone on this board pointed that out and now I can't unsee it. I still like them, but it kinda bugs me to the point where they've fallen out of sorts with me.

Wasn't there some BS about how they couldn't get that pattern to work on the edge and that was why the Stars changed their look?

Reebok also said they couldn't do hem stripes. Until teams told them to do it anyway. This is my biggest problem with Reebok. They try to dictate design to the teams rather then the other way around.

I have heard that logo is not the new logo on the front of the third jerseys. If it is, then I don't like it and I think they can do better.

Yeah, that logo's from like, 2 years ago I think.

Also, went over last night for the Wild game, and bought one of the CBJ Foundation's Hats for Heroes hats for this year. The logos are all silver/greyscale and there's royal blue accenting on the hats. I'm thinking this could be a subtle hint and would match the whole navy/silver/lighter blue rumor that's been going around.

Here's a couple of pictures of the hat:

The "striping" pattern on the bill.

Hat1.png

The "silverscale" logo on the side of the hat.

Hat2.png

FWIW, there's a Cowboys-esque star on the front of the hats if you care. :P

They should also use Dallas' darker shade of green, just to fit with the team's current identity and give a nod to the past without trying too hard to relive it.

But.

What I'd really absolutely *love* would be for the team to honor its franchise roots by switching teams with Minnesota. Bring back the North Stars and let Texas have the Dallas Wild (or some other name if they prefer).
