I think that if you can't appreciate the San Antonio Spurs, you shouldn't be watching sports. If the best-run franchise in American sports that features the most likeable coach and superstars doesn't do it for you, I don't know what will.

In what world is Tim Duncan a likable superstar?

He's great at his position and has been for years, he makes others around him better, and he's a professional off the court.

I didn't say he was exciting, but the for swatch of people who like "blue-collar" players (whatever that means), Tim Duncan is right up there.

How is he unlikeable?

San Antonio Spurs....features the most likeable coach

Are you kidding? 99.9% of the time, Popovich is a :censored:ing toolbag.

I will say that I am okayyy with Duncan's Spurs when they're going up against "evil empire" teams like the Heat or Lakers -- But the rest of the time, they do as much for me as the Charlotte Bobcats. Maybe they'll win another title in 2017 and maybe I'll care.

There have been so many great storylines and such this season- the Hawks, the Warriors, the Rockets and James Harden, Westbrook supernova- that it would be a bit of a letdown IMO if we get another rehash of LeBron v. Spurs in June.

It's like the Cardinals/Giants in baseball- some of us fans simply yearn for something different. New blood.

Since 1999, only three NBA Finals have not featured the Lakers or Spurs (OKC, Dallas 2x).

Gregg Popovich has never said a disbaraging word about anyone and Tim Duncan just plays basketball and does home, he is a quit star who never has done anything bad to anybody, pure class all the way. Maybe if you are in the Spurs division you may resent them as a rival, but to not like them and respect them otherwise is hard to understand.

That being said I think this years NBA Playoffs may be the best ever so wide open its anybody's guess who will make it to the finals.

If it's anything close to the 2011 postseason, with all the storylines, twists and turns it had...then by all means, bring it on.

In what world is Tim Duncan a likable superstar?

He's fun to watch and a genuinely good teammate and person, not a borderline sociopath like many NBA stars seem to be.

Tim Duncan is SOOOOOO freaking boring. He's the best mannequin to ever play professional sports. Completely uninteresting most of the time, and whenever he does open his mouth it's usually to whine about petty crap like not being able to wear his polo shirts on the sidelines when he sits out because he's old.

I get that people want someone with less personality than guys like Artest or Iverson because they're totally over the top, but it'd be nice if they at least had SOME personality.

So by your logic:

BORING = UNLIKEABLE/HATED/DETESTED

Nice to know that someone who plays basketball quietly and without controversy is more of a degenerate, NBA player to you than, say, a flamboyant doucnenozzle (LeBron), a couple of certified floppers (Griffin, Paul, Wade) and a stuck-up, childish a$$hole (Dwight Howard).

Ironic how you hate Duncan for being boring, when you root for a team which does nothing but bore the hell out of people during the summer and fall (SF Giants).

No, by YOUR logic boring means being hated and detested. But your logic has never been exactly sound.

I don't consider Tim Duncan to be a likable superstar because he's as boring as a cardboard box and tends to whinge about worthless crap whenever he does get somewhat animated. That doesn't mean I hate the guy with the passion of a thousand burning suns. I just think he's kind of annoying and isn't very marketable. Unlike those flamboyant douchenozzle Satan worshipping Hitler fans you mentioned, right?

Seriously, you're pretty much the very last person who should be talking about someone else's logic.

This is what happens when the NBA clears the schedule for the NCAA tournament.

No wait, the Nets beat the Blazers 106-96 in a makeup of the postponed Jan. 26 game. Let's over analyze this game and it's implications for the future.

Clearly, Brooklyn had more to play for and just wanted it more. That was obvious when Portland opted to have Aldridge and others skip the cross-country flight.

I'm still waiting for the explanation of how the Giants are any more boring than another baseball team.

To each his own, but I enjoy watching Duncan's fundamental game. I'm a sucker for bigs who can pass the ball and Duncan is great at that. I really couldn't care less what anyone's like off the court. FWIW, I also liked Artest.

What makes Duncan "annoying?" Has he ever whined for a foul call? Does he personally receive overexposure on television and other media (including exposing his off-basketball life)? Has he said/done anything which have angered people to the point of some people taking it personally? What does he do which irritates you? I want to freaking-know an answer to this.

And what does it matter if he's not that marketable? Duncan's done his share of commercials in the past (McD, Sprite, Edge Shaving Gel, AmEx), while also supporting local charities in his home-playing market. What effect will that have on his play and personality? If being low-key has resulted in 5 championships, 6 Finals trips, back-to-back regular season MVPs and other accolades within his 17 years of service in the NBA, then all for-it.

18, I think.

Duncan is cool. I hope after he retires, he decides to be a social worker or something, you know, just to stay occupied.

Envisioning an entertainment hub that would transform downtown, the Milwaukee Bucks plan to build a $500 million arena just north of the BMO Harris Bradley Center and use that as a springboard for an additional $500 million in development, much of it in the largely vacant Park East corridor.

The arena site itself is not surprising — it has been the worst-kept secret in the city for weeks — but the conceptual development plans for the Park East are striking in their breadth.

Kinda funny that Milwaukee will keep the 65 year-old arena around (even though it's been modernized several times over the years), but yet will tear-down the other arena that's 27 years old.

All that said, if they can get this done, it'll be great for Milwaukee and the Bucks.
