I don't mind that kind of heat at all, though, honestly. I'd rather be too hot than too cold. If you're hot, you just drink fluids and sweat. If you're cold, you suffer. All cities get pretty warm. You can play games either in the evening or day games in domed buildings. Well outside Phoenix hot is relative. I said earlier that I omitted Boston because Foxborough is so far from the city and so unimpressive. Were there a stadium within even a ten-mile radius (which turns out to be roughly the I-95/Route 128 beltway), sure, but shuttling people halfway to Providence and back doesn't seem like something you want to show off to the world. I realize there's the same problem with Lego Stadium, but hey, who knows, maybe Oakland gets something built by 2022 and we don't have to exile tourists to Santa Clara. I don't know whether Ford Field can sustain natural grass, so I left it off. Also, Detroit doesn't seem like something you want to show off to the world. So to bring it back round a little Fifa have stated that he bidding process for the 2026 World Cup has been postponed amid allegations around the 2018 and 2022 tournaments. Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke said it was "a nonsense" to begin the process in the current climate.The vote to decide who will host the 2026 World Cup is due to take place in Kuala Lumpur in May 2017. They aren't going to eat up host countries like the US on the 2026 bid until they know for sure whether they're going to need them for 2022 or even 2018 depending on what the corruption findings are when this all shakes out. There is a section devoted to the event level, detailing minimum dimensions of the playing field, distances to advertising boards, then to the seating bowl walls. Using this photo as a basis:Soldier Field's event level is way too small to meet the minimum dimensions. Regs state that a field must be 74 yards wide, and provide roughly, a 9.5 yard buffer from the corner flag to the walls. In soccer the eighteen yard box is 44 yards wide, and if you look at the photo above there is a hash mark below the end line just outside the penalty area to either side, this hash mark denotes a ten yard standoff from the corner flag. Using this as a guide, you can figure that field for being about 68 yards in width, and obviously the additional space in the 'auxiliary area' as FIFA call it from the edge of the field to the stadium bowl at the flags is insufficient. Most NFL stadiums would have this same problem. These are always suggestions by FIFA that can be worked around as long as there is not a significant issue.
