MLB Changes 2017

Do world series winning teams usually give rings to their tv broadcasters? Todd Hollandsworth was with the Cubs last season and is now with the Marlins broadcast team. When discussing the Cubs getting their rings Rich Waltz asks Hollandsworth if he got his ring yet and Hollandsworth said he wasn't sure if he'd even get one. I'm a Marlins fan and I know for sure their broadcasters got rings when the Marlins won the 2003 world series so this made me curious what was the norm? Can anyone confirm or deny if any other world series teams have given their broadcasters rings?

The Giants gave Kruk and Kuip (Dave Fleming, John Miller, and a few others, too) rings for all three or their recent titles.

Games ive went to, ive barely saw it.

What i saw the most, honestly, is the blue hat with the red C

I see a fair amount of those in NYC.

I don't think I've seen Wahoo in years, so anecdotally it appears to be less popular among expatriates.

So, they made 2016 World Series rings for Ron Santo and Ernie Banks? Why?

Usually they do. After the Cardinals won in 2006, Dan McLaughlin and Ricky Horton sported their rings on air for the next year.

Absolutely, the television and radio broadcasters receive rings. So Len Kasper, Jim DeShaeis, Pat Hughes, and Ron Coomer will all receive rings. These positions are usually listed on the team website and media guide.

Todd Hollandsworth on the other hand, was simply the pre/post-game analyst on Comcast SportsNet. So, no. He would most likely not receive a ring.

I like the red caps blue top combo. Didn't think I would in action but it works fine

I really wish someone else did a daily blog about changes in sports uniforms and logo's that isn't so anti-corporate or lets their beliefs effect reporting what is done, seriously today's blog he wrote out a paragraph about how this years home run derby jerseys are made of a new lightweight material, but has it all striked out and said sorry I can't bring myself to care about it.

Sorry you shouldn't be doing a daily blog about what changed happened in the uniforms and logo's of sports if you're going to act like a 12 year old, because if you really didn't care you wouldn't have typed it in the first place.

Seems a bit messed up. The pre and post game analysts are part of the broadcast team as well. I'd hope they get a ring as well. I'm sure the line has to be drawn somewhere but I'd say all the on air personalities should get one.

As much as I'd like to see them as the full time homes, I'd be cool if the Blue Jays kept the white paneled caps and helmets for special games that aren't celebrated league wide. Big games vs division rivals on Sunday Night Baseball, first home game in a playoff series, ect. For as much crap as you see the league make teams wear during holidays, there aren't enough times where the team itself can decide to wear alts like that. Everything is so scheduled. It'd be nice if certain teams could pull that stuff out at random like this. It'd have to be a bit underdone, but it'd be a nice change in pace without being too over the top.

So start one.  It's just a blog - anyone can make one.  Just make sure you brush up on your grammar first.

You're wrong on every front.  The blog isn't anti corporate.  Don't confuse an appreciation for classic sports aesthetics with being anti-corporate.

So I see we're doing that thing where someone can't help but talk about Chief Wahoo.

WHATEVER your opinions are, find a way to convey them respectfully. Name calling, the degeneration of people on the other side of wherever you (a general "you") are, and good old fashion politically motivated pissing contests won't be tolerated.

Thank you.

I prefer the Indians red cap with the red-lettered home white jersey, but not with the navy top.  The navy cap would look better with the navy top.

Regardless of which one they wear, they REALLY need a white outline around the "C" on both the red cap and the navy cap. Both look bad without it.

Is MLB doing away with the diamond era hats? I don't think any of the new sets released for holidays and the all star break featured diamond era. I know it looked like there was a new honeycomb mesh hat

All of the 2017 Spring Training hats were Diamond Era...I think it's too early to say they are doing away with it.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
