Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Steelers-Dolphins in 2007... Pittsburgh won 3-0

The second picture is from 2004 as they're in the marlins infield

I was at the 2004 game. A hurricane had just went through South Florida. The game was scheduled for 1:00 but it was moved back to 8:30. It was a really cool atmosphere. Im pretty sure it was Big Ben's first ever start too.

1987 Sun Bowl... not terrible snow, but snow in El Paso isn't real real common...

The NFL game I remember from childhood was the Chiefs-Bucs monsoon in 1979. I have to chuckle watching this video... the first guy that is shown is Mike Bettes, the guy from TWC that got tossed a few hundred yards by the El Reno F5 last Friday.

In the CFL the Grey Cup from 1950 called "The Mud Bowl"

The 1962 "Fog Bowl"

and the 1977 "Ice Bowl"

This is why I love the idea of a Super Bowl in cold weather. The fair weather fans will stay away and the idea of earning it in the strangest weather possible is an awesome ideea to me.

It's much more likely for the better team to lose playing in bad weather. The Super Bowl (or any championship) should be played in the best conditions possible.

Both games that stick out in my mind have already been mentioned. The Seahawks vs Chiefs was a Sunday night game I believe. I think it was in the mid to late 90s. The Jaguars at Panthers game was the hardest I have seen it rain during a game. I also went to the Steelers vs Dolphins game that they had to push back to Sunday night because of the hurricane in 2004. It poured pretty much all game and there were 3 turnovers in the first 4 or 5 plays.

Yes, that Seattle @ KC game was a Sunday night. It poured so much that they had to stop it in the 3rd after both teams could literally only run draws up the middle and some lightning wait for it to let up a bit, and let all the water rushing down from the stands drain, they came back to finish the second quarter and second half after a bit of a delay.

(On edit: It was commented on before I read that far) There was also a nasty MNF game b/w Pit and Miami in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2007. Pittsburgh won 3-0 in overtime. They actually placed new sod ON TOP OF the old sod before the game. Mistake.

If they're the better team, they'll find the way to win. Nice weather is a perk

This is my favorite. Chiefs Raiders from back in 2002. On this particular play Rich Gannon had about an hour to complete this pass for a touchdown to my cousin, Doug Jolley :)

Best thread ive seen in some time. Loving every photo. Especially Favre in the snow. Always think of him in snow and mud and rain

Bucfan i was a big fan of the Raiders in the early 2000s. Gannon is one of my favorite QBs ever. Jolley was a heck of a TE too :)

i love this photo. its everything i want to remember about Favre. (unless they lost that game, not sure which one it is specifically)

favre_in_snow.jpg

think this was the last regular season game with Indy on their latest SB run. Peyton played a drive or two, the Colts were in the playoffs. he was mic'd up and one of the Buffalo DBs said something like "man, go sit on the bench!" (believe he was MVP that year).

not bad weather but the field was a mess this day. one of my favorite games ever
