Apparently once this deal goes through, the Dodgers might send Wood directly to Detroit for Price

It will probably take a bit more then Alex Wood for David Price.

Your hearing the Dodgers are willing to listen to offers for Yaisel Puig. Puig and Wood straight up for Price seems like it would be a fair deal.

Scott Van Slyke has had a higher OPS then Puig in both 2015 and 2014 as is arguably the best outfielder in the game who's not a regular starter.

The Dodgers bringing in Morse doesn't make a lot of sense on the surface, but if Puig's gone and Van Slyke moves into the starting lineup, a fourth outfield spot would open up and now Morse seems to be a decent fit.

May or may not happen that way, but its a thought.

Well... If the Orioles don't make a trade for at least Justin Upton and/or a starting pitcher, they're just sitting ducks in the AL East

Sadly, I think they are anyway. They are hot as of late but they have been to streaky for my liking.

So much for what I just said about the Dodgers getting Price.

I think 7 games is still too much to make up on the Yankees even with Price at this point in the year, but it definitely ups their odds at getting a Wild Card spot. It certainly takes a below average pitching staff and makes it into an average one if not above average.

A little surprised they gave up Norris. That was their only other big time arm in the farm, he's just about Major League ready and there's enough young players on that team to say they don't have to be in "win now" mode, but I think that dynamic may have changed a bit now. If this team as is doesn't go anywhere this year or next, I have a hard time seeing it ever happen.

For the Tigers I think its confirmation that their window is shut for the time being. Even with the addition of Norris, the Tigers are still in the bottom half of the league for farm systems. Decent lineup, but zero starting pitching now that Price is gone and nobody outside of Norris that seems to be ready to step up into that rotation in the immediate future, or at least anyone you would want.

Just having Miguel Cabrera I think guarantees that they will be at least a 70 win team, but this is a team that needs to stop living off of free agency and trades. Justin Verlander and James McCann are the only two guys of note on the roster that came up through the Tigers farm system. You can sustain that for just so long.

I think Dombroswki was right to be short sighted in the way he handled the club. It just didn't work out quite as well as he wanted it to. But if they draft well and do a good enough job with developing their prospects I think in two or three years though this team can get right back into contention. The don't need to rebuild, just retool and this may not be a bad first step.

I have to say, if I was a fan of ANY other team that's been as inactive as the Giants have been in free agency and at the deadline when there's obvious need, I'd probably be pretty annoyed right about now watching Price and Hamels go to teams that are way further back than the Giants are.

But, they've shown three times now that passing on the huge names for table scraps is the way to go. Is that Sabean's immense skill shining through? Is it total luck? Who knows. But I think this time around, I'm just gonna sit back and trust that the Giants know what they're doing better than I do.

Now, time for the Giants to trade for Joe Blanton and turn him into Cy Young for a month or something.

Huge risk for a .500 team. Is there any reason to think Price will sign there?

Maybe, but on the flip side Tampa and Boston will probably get their :censored: back together sooner rather than later, so when you haven't made the playoffs since before the strike, why not take a run at it?

Other then the fact that he might confused by some for Drake, I have no idea. Nothing but kind things to say about Toronto from me, but I know the taxes up there have cost the Jays more just than a handful of players. If he doesn't resign and Jays don't make it to the playoffs, hard not to look at that deal as a bad one.

The .500 record would have been enough for me to say no if I were the Blue Jays. Dumbest thing you can do as a GM I believe is to think your own team is better then they actually are. That may have been the case here.

The Tulo trade was an easy one to defend. This deal is banking on two or three things breaking just right for it to really work.

Of any of the deals made so far, this is by far the biggest gamble a team has made.

They're 2 games out of the wild card right now... it's a worthy gamble on Toronto's part to try and add Price.

Remember, these guys can hit the ball like it's a wiffle ball. They needed pitching and they got it.

Agree. They need to pass two teams. And one of them is the Twins. I see them getting into the WC spot.

2 GB of a wild card on a 21-year playoff drought, keeping a prospect who isn't a slam dunk to help you when you have trouble getting free agents and are losing 3/5th of your rotation after this year...you have to go for it. The team is modular and surely they can still grow and do fine, but...this is the last chance this core group had to do something and so, I applaud AA for going for it. Would love to see one more acquisition made to shore up the back end of that rotation or bullpen before it's said and done, but if nothing else, I like this move and even if it doesn't work, i still appreciate them going after it because to me this was the best chance the team had.

Yankees are playing over their heads, we can beat them in a series if we have to. And while a one-game playoff isn't ideal, I'll take playoff baseball however I can get it.
