Brisbane Strikers

I wanted to have another Brisbane team, just because they can most likely support two teams. OVERWHELMINGLY, the Strikers were the team suggested on my poll the most for this spot. The Brisbane Strikers were a major Australian team before the federation formed the A-League. So it would be cool if they had a chance to come back to the top. Their logo is a lightning bolt, and a soccer ball, with "Strikers" crossing over top. I gave them more of a presentable shield with all the current aspects, thrown together without a soccer ball.

One thing I noticed right away was the color scheme. I could have a lot of fun because they have 4 colors used almost all the same amount. I wanted to basically make them look like Arsenal South. The kits are pretty similar to their current looks too.

Hey raysox, I know you did an inkscape tutorial using a hockey uniform template. Do you think you could do another one using a soccer template? You know, team crests, sponsor logos, things that wouldn't be in a hockey uniform? I would love to learn how to use inkscape and make my own concepts.

I was kind of expecting Gatorade to be the jersey sponsor for the Strikers based on the logo, so that's a little bit of an unfortunate coincidence. Beyond that, no complaints. The Arsenal-style logo and uniforms work very well in this instance. Not much to say - simple design, good design. Good work once again.

I don't think you have to worry about the similarity with the Gatorade logo and the Strikers crest. Maybe it's just because I'm an idiot, but I didn't even notice it until I read the posts under it.

Sunshine Coast Heat FC
A few things about this concept. In the poll that the people filled out with team name suggestions, Sunshine Coast's top choices were Fire and Heat. I convinced myself that I liked the Heat better, but that was before I realized the Fire is the current team there. And honestly, I just went with it. Everyone is gonna chew me out for the decision, but again, I liked it better. I wanted to use a warm colored gradient originally for the A-League logos, but decided on the green and gold. That idea was moved to this concept. From yellow to maroon, this team has some warm colors. The crest is a diamond with a banner, and SCH monogram.

The kits I thought could be kind of unique. I couldn't think of a team with red/yellow/red for their kits, and I didn't want to do a gradient on this one, despite seeing how it looked, so I went with the look below. The clash is white because all the warm colors are pretty similar and this would be different enough.

I love the Strikers. Like how you modernized their logo and their overall appearance.

I think it was in EA's Bundesliga Stars 2000 (there were also versions for the BPL, Serie A etc. I guess) where I played against these guys in the Club World Cup. That's why I kinda have an emotional bound to this club because I had no clue about soccer outside of Europe back then.

I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.

Ballarat Red Devils
So I finished my A-League series! I took a few weeks off because, if you didn't know, cranking out 28 concepts is not particularly easy. I took some time off to work on my next project because I was more interested in that than soccer for a few weeks. That being said, this guy sucks.

I appreciate every comment I get, both good and bad. But this one really killed me. First of all, I have a life. I don't get much time on the computer some days, and honestly, this series fell out of favor. I was always going to put everything into my last few concepts. I don't really do concepts for anyone but myself, especially for someone this rude for me taking my merry time to post concepts. Lastly, I'm not the one who made a lot of mid major cities in Queensland. I'm not done with the series, so for you, here's a team from Victoria.
Finally to the concept. I found out this team was originally colored red for Liverpool, but currently wear a kit like Manchester United. It all fits into the Red Devils nickname the current team has. I almost made this team a 4th Melbourne team but decided that this cold be something really cool. The logo is a squat badge with a crossed pick axe and pitchfork, to represent both city and club.
The kits are very plain, but I thought were striking enough. They're modeled after ManU, and so is the team, because red/white/black is a damn good look. And that's coming from a Chelsea supporter. The clash was me thinking yellow and red is underrated. I played around with some Nike type designs but ended up making hoops with red and yellow.

Another good one. A nice, simple crest. I also dig the "McDonald's" hoops on the clash.

If I could go back to Sunshine Coast Heat for a second. I absolutely LOVE the crest.....but not so much for the overall design. I really like the gradient in the crest and how it allows you to create multiple kits that are completely different in color while still using colors from the crest.

Love the Sunshine Coast crest. The red-to-yellow gradient is really nice (though I still wish you used it for one of the league logos ^_^) and the interlocking "SHC" is a good addition.

Ballarat is really solid. I like the simplicity of the crest and home kits, and the interlocking axe and pitchfork provide a strong identity. The yellow and red hoops on the clash are a look I haven't seen before, so they balance nicely with the Man-U-inspired primary kit.

And that message/comment you were sent really sucks. I understand how you feel—not only does life get busy sometimes, but also sometimes the inspiration just isn't there, especially when you're creating original teams. Just don't let those people get you down.

Man, I love how people thing designing things is easy, especially when they just consume designs without knowing the effort and imagination that goes into it. This is the first time I have ever heard someone complain that the speed of the posts were too slow. You even said the post would start slowing down so there is now excuse.

And I love how people seem to hate "bland" or as I prefer, "simple" designs. Sure you could go balls to the wall crazy with designs, but that isn't realistic if your goal is to be realistic. Everytime I make a concept, my goal is to be as realistic as possible so when I hear that people thing it's too bland, it really pisses me off...

Anyway, great concept - nice to see IGA again, since they closed down most stores where I am :P that crest is simple but it looks appropriate for tier 2 so no complaints from me

Sunshine Coast and Ballarat both look sharp. I do kinda wish that the gradient seen in the logo was on the jerseys (maybe a la USMNT's away kits?), but the sampling colors works just as well. I also did that SCH monogram, very good design if I do say so myself. For Ballarat, the ManU look works really well for them, and the red and yellow hoops are a good away kit - kinda reminds me of what FC Dallas does in a way. A little weird to see only the bottom two red hoops make it to the back of the jersey, but I get why you did that.

And as for the hate... believe me, you're not going to please everyone. And I totally understand your longer breaks - I'm currently in a stretch of no concepts after churning out a bunch of them. And non-flashy designs - totally okay. Going the simple route is both realistic and creates clean looks. Don't worry about the downers, if you like it then that's enough. Keep up the good work man!

Any word on a soccer inkscape tutorial? No problem if the answer is no, btw.

I mean, it's pretty similar to my hockey one. I use the same techniques for everything and I can't imagine that it would be very different. Unless you're asking for a crest tutorial, which I could probably do next soccer series I'm planning later this summer.

But thanks for all the kind words, I'm gonna finish this up this week then take a week off for finals and come early May I'll start posting my new series.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that you never really have produced anything of value for the Concepts forum. I mean, really.

A bazillion soccer concepts, baseball, cricket, racing, hosting contests, being cool enough to share your templates? C'mon, stop slacking. ;)

(On an unrelated note, does anyone why the sarcasm font isn't working?)
