20-5. 35-12-5.

Yeah, average stats.

When judging a goalie playing on one of the league's overall best teams, you should probably look at more than just wins/losses.

Looking at other basic stats, Andersen is 23rd in save percentage (riding a league average of .914) and 19th in goals against average. His playoff stats this year are impressive, but he's also faced two of the weakest teams in the playoffs.

Looking at adjusted shooting percentages against (essentially reverse S%), he's close to the league average for low and medium (blue line to the circles) shots, but below the league average for high shots (in the slot and in front of the net). This is all at even strength.

So yeah, average stats. Boudreau's one of the league's best coaches and the Ducks are overall one of the overall best teams in the league with some great young players ready to develop and become part of the main core, getting above average goaltending (either from Gibson or Andersen if they keep on developing) would make them a legitimate perennial contender in the playoffs, instead of fizzling out in the first or second round every year except this one (but again, they were playing against weaker teams)

But my original point was, Perry should be first in line for Smythe consideration if Anaheim win 8 more games.

Eh. Thick clouds of smug above the Anaheim area tonight so careful on the roads out there.

Minnesotans think they invented hockey and still end up being more gracious counterparts than anyone from Anaheim.

Strange how every team that beat the Blackhawks in the playoffs is smug.

How dare they presume to even breathe the same air! Why am I even talking to you? Go talk to the other peasants.

They prefer commoners, but the point remains.

Where are all these smug Anaheim fans?

I don't see much of it here besides The Six, and I think that's just him doing him.

I just kinda picture all Ducks fans as Zach, and he, well, kinda is smug. Hell, he'd tell you that. It's all in fun with him, unless he chanted Crawford, in which case we are enemies now.

Either way they are interrupting my sojourn through their ghetto and the ashes of their dead are sooting up my gilded cane.

The HFboards Ducks contingent is probably the cockiest fanbase around. Sharks fans sniff their own farts about rec leagues or whatever but have been beaten down by reality enough to lighten up about the actual hockey. But one person doesn't pick the Ducks to win a series and suddenly the whole world doesn't believe in them and everyone must be mocked for...thinking the things they didn't actually think, I guess. They remind me of Vancouver fans circa 2009-2011, if anything. Probably the preponderance of spoiled suburban kids to the exclusion of much of anyone else.

Most people here can't stand the Sharks because ICS was such a toolbag. Just saying.

Things are getting a little salty between the Chicago and Anaheim bases here. Good for you guys. I look forward to the volley of snark.

Also, good to see your promise of staying away from the boards this season worked, Andy. You just can't quit the thread, can you?

I'm also beginning to notice Admiral has a white while in San Jose. He just can't insult them enough, despite the fact they have nothing to do with the conversation. But hey, whatever butters your bread.

Anyways, I stand by my predictions. Rangers will hold at home and take one at the Forum - sorry, Amalie Arena - while LOLHAWKSWIN roll off four in a row.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Well the Ducks do get hate on the interwebz though and there are people who have picked against the Ducks every series.

So when the Ducks sweep the Jets after a lot of people say the Jets are the most likely upset, there are many Ducks fans (HFboards, reddit? etc.) who go extremely out there with the "We showed you, you thought the Ducks were bad and they won." I think might also be the quick rise to relevance and vitrol on the internet after being under the radar or disregarded.

And I'm done with the "You don't like us, we don't care" that has been beaten to death.

So.... let me throw out a topic to get this thread going with the game over and before Still Mighty hops on aboard.

Do you think the NHL back in the day should have gone to three divisions (adding Northwest/Southeast)?

One of the big grips of the old playoff system was the Southeast Division winner getting a high seed if their record was not as good as other second place teams?

(2004 Lightning/2006 Hurricanes are exceptions to this.)

The 2002 Carolina Hurricanes were the 3 seed based on winning a weak division, but record-wise would have been a seventh seed. When the top 2 seed fell, the team whose record wouldn't have sniffed a West playoff spot had home-ice the rest of the way in the East!

Hell, they had home-ice against a Toronto team that finished #3 in the entire league and missed the division title by ONE point.

My only problem with the current two-division format is not reseeding after round one. We didn't need two divisions all those years in the 2000s!

Literally could have changed some entire playoffs if you had just had two divisions and properly seeded them instead of screwing things up with these MEH division winners clogging up seeds and stealing them from teams with better records.

Circling back to the smug thing here.

Well, to be completely fair, you (And CS) do kinda instigate a LOT of it.
