DrAwesomeberry
If I were a Stars fan I would be awfully worried right about now....My linkThe contractual facts: The Dallas Stars have a contractual obligation (Non-Relocation Agreement) with the AAC lenders that would prevent the team from being moved until at least 2023. The Stars also have a Location Agreement with the City of Dallas that the team could not be moved until at least 2031. After that, there is a series of 10 one-year lease options that are designed to be attractive enough financially as to avert the movement of the team to a new facility during that period. In addition, don't the Stars own half of the arena?Yep. They are probably the most stable Southern team in the NHL, even after becoming a Tom Hicks victim. And don't forget just plain sucking lately.Sucking is an effect of a Tom Hicks'ing. See: Texas Rangers '01-'08, Liverpool.Yep. They are probably the most stable Southern team in the NHL, even after becoming a Tom Hicks victim.Speaking of, I don't follow it closely enough, but is there any fire to the rumors that Greenberg and Cuban were going to put together a bid? I haven't followed hockey since the 90s, but I like Chuck and I might carry a passing interest in something he's involved in.They've both thrown their hat into the ring, but at this point it looks like wishful thinking. Tom Gaglardi is probably gonna end up as the owner. Hopefully the process will be over before the season starts
rams80
I think he was joking that Bettman would toss them to Quebec as he did the Thrashers to Winnipeg to save his precious Coyotes, who were a far bigger problem than either team.This. The Stars have an ownership situation. If Quebecor comes in looking to buy the Coyotes to move them to Quebec City then it wouldn't surprise me to see Bettman toss them the Stars (or any other team with ownership and/or money problems) to save his desert-based government funded ego trip.ALLEZ LES BLEUS!!! The_Admiral
Let me see if I can guess how this goes.1) "We believe this team is a highly undervalued asset that we have the means to turn around overnight."2) "We really believe in this team and can't wait to start taking a closer look at the business side of things."3) "We're really excited about the imminent purchase of the Coyotes as soon as we forge a meaningful public-private partnership for the community."4) "Y U NO GIVE FREE MONEY?!?"5) There are no (anglophone) bidders at this time. The_Admiral
I don't know what an enormous lifestyle strip mall costs in the rest of the country, but I'd have to imagine it would go for more than $40 million. If "the real estate bubble" were a Pictionary clue, all you'd have to draw is the state of Arizona. You guys are all even more dicked than the rest of us. It was a PG sequel to an R film. It rankles the locals.
