MLB 2016 Changes

I just picked up a bit of a weird rumor so I might as well start this one now. Apparently all 30 teams will be getting new DE caps and they'll be tied into the new BP jerseys. Also, there will be two big rebrands for next year. Sounds like one is going to be the Padres, but I have no idea who the other team is.

Blue Jays should have a 40th season patch. They started in 1977, but they celebrate seasons (not anniversaries) that end in 6s and 1s.

Braves may have a 50 Years in Atlanta patch, or a Turner Field patch, both of which would be pretty troll-ish.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

The part about two rebrands is very exciting. The Padres' ASG game look doesn't seem to differ that much from their current aesthetic (aside from the introduction of yellow), so I'm not sure what to expect from them. A few other teams off the top of my head that could use rebrands are the Diamondbacks, Rockies, and Brewers.

As much as I wish the diamondbacks would've stayed truer to their original branding, their new brand has gained some traction with the coyotes also in the brick red and the Astros moving away from it, so I'd say they are just a minor rebrand away from being very strong, but no need to overhaul everything.. The Rockies need to revert to purple as their primary color for sure, but otherwise, they have a strong and tenured identity IMO.. I don't care if they use black or silver as the secondary and make the other a tertiary/accent color, along with maybe a medium-dark grey to add a bit more depth to their image.. Either way, these two teams could definitely use some cosmetic improvement, but neither is in desperate need of a full rebrand in the same way the Padres are..

Since the Brewers are now in full rebuild mode, now would be a good time for a fresh look. I hope they do something soon. Their current look has gotten really stale, IMO.

Oh, yes please.

Adopt the throwbacks full time, start from scratch, anything. They have one of the worst looks in the majors; not outright ludicrous or ugly, just bad.

I'd just like to see new colors more than anything. Never been a fan of the navy/old gold. I doubt they'd ever go full retro for a new look but maybe try something like the Bucks..modern with a retro feel. I think they should give royal/cream a try.

Could it be the Braves?? I have been told by manny friends of mine that at the games recently attended, in the team store all stuff was clearance. Hats and jerseys......just saying.

Sounds like an end-of-season sale. I doubt they'd have a rebrand in the final year of the stadium, especially when Turner Field is so current-logo heavy.

I hope not. The Braves, in my mind, are close to being untouchable in the logo department. They should always wear the script with the tomahawk underneath it.

There were rumblings back in April in the Tampa newspapers that the Rays could be working towards using the light blue more than the dark blue. Haven't heard much since, but will keep an eye on it for sure.

I'm not a huge fan of the "rays of sunshine" angle, but promoting the lighter blue to primary color would give the Rays a standout color rather than being another navy blue team.
