2016 NHL Playoffs, Rite of Spring: "You thought God was an architect"

Yup. Pretty sure I remember you slamming fellow Nucks fans after '11, but whatever. This is the smaller point.

Blatant? Okay. Rinne moves outside of the crease, while Pavelski gets shoved in the back by Gaustad. He then gets tripped, yet still scores, but you think this is blatant? Pavelski doesn't initiate the contact with Rinne, who was half out of the crease on the initial shot anyways. At the very least, even if you argue it's incidental, the Sharks should've gotten a power play because of it.

The thing that really bugs me more about this is how they didn't want to call the shove or the trip, but yet called the interference. They say they don't want the refs deciding the game, yet that's ultimately what happened. Also, if I remember correctly, the original signal on the ice was a hand pass, which was also incorrect. So yea, I got a bone or two to pick with the "blatant" interference Pavelski did.

Alas, the Sharks also missed like four wraparounds, so they had chances for redemption. Sucks but that's life.

People say they don't want refs deciding games by calling penalties, but NOT calling something in overtime* that the same ref would call in the first period is also "the ref deciding the game". It's still putting your hand on the scale, just lifting up instead of pushing down. It's total BS, IMO.

To me, the "no goal" decision was based off of Pavelski knocking the puck in while he was on top of Rinne.  If an offensive player is shooting the puck, the letter of the law says the goalie has to be given a chance to stop the puck.  So when Pavelski was shooting the puck while laying on Rinne, Rinne was "being interfered with".  Pavelski was no longer "a victim of circumstances" once he was cognizant enough to play the puck.

Had the puck gone in untouched after Pavelski was pushed and everything else stayed the same, I think that would have been an allowable goal.

Can't say anything for certain going forward, but Murray has played very well this postseason and there's no reason to turn away from him in favour of a twice-concussed MAF until Murray struggles enough to create a problem. So far, Murray has been superb in net.

MAF is on the books for $5.75M for the next two seasons after this and Murray is only 21, so no reason to make any big decisions yet for the Pens.

Has any team had a more lopsided uniform set, in the playoffs, than the 2016 Penguins.  I hope this marquee matchup at least goes to 6...  Way too much talent on both ends to end in 5.

That Holtby save was ridiculous. The play that Pittsburgh set up was amazing to begin with, then Holtby had to some how top it. I can't even, what just happened.

Tbf, Holtby has had a solid series in net as well, but he has been (rightly) overshadowed by Murray. He's saved almost every shot that he could during the series, IMO several of the Penguins' goals have been either deflections, odd man rushes, and just pure luck (here's looking at you, Tom Kuhnhackl).

Great game all-around today from Caps. Good to see some mental toughness from a team that has been sorely lacking that in past postseasons.

The he works not over, but this is a big step forward. Hopefully they can use this win as some momentum to get it back to Verizon Center on Thursday for Game 7.

I'm still saying, the Caps are the scariest team still alive. Feel like the Penguins are poking a sleeping bear, it's not going to end well.

My vote is for the 2007 Ottawa Senators. The Penguins may have different colors and different designs between the two jerseys, but the Senators had different designs and different logos between their home and road.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

There's more pressure on Ovechkin than any of the Penguins core players. Cause Ovi still has no Cup on his resumé.

I honestly can't think of any player that could be considered close to Ovi's skill set that has never won a cup. He's a freak of nature.

I probably shouldn't say this until like the middle of July, but the West is going the way I want.  Also, the East is happening.

The Sharks and Preds should be in a handshake line  right now.

Well, the winds sure have shifted quickly in SabresRule Land.

But I still wouldn't be stunned if the Sharks drop the next two games.

Disappointing loss tonight, but the Pens will be fine. They get to play in Pittsburgh next game, and I don't see any way they let the Caps tie it in their own building.

I said the exact same thing about the Caps last year when they went up 3-1 on the Rangers, lost G5, and played G6 at Verizon Center.

Tbf, I will go into Tuesday's game fully expecting to lose. But if the Caps do manage to win, watch out. They'll have momentum, something to prove, and a home crowd behind them.
