Apparently it's been turned off the entire postseason during games due to the fact that it attracts midges. Which I find hilarious, since every other source of light in the ballpark does the exact same thing, and you can't turn everything off.

I read, "attracts midgets" and was confused/amused.

We're now playing best 3 of 5.

Because the pitcher batting is baseball, not a past-rotten promotional stunt.

I wonder how you feel about the forward lateral.

The DH needs to go the way of the other innovations of its era like Astroturf, cookie-cutter stadiums, sansabelt pants, and Charlie Finley's orange baseballs.

This win felt great, even though all it was was something the Cubs had to do anyway, i.e., win one in Cleveland. I don't know what they'll do about Schwarber for the next three games. He can hit, but any fielding in what'll likely be inclement weather is likely to re-injure his knee at worst and suck at best. We might have ourselves some managering coming up!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

This is sort of a Strasburgian dilemma, isn't it? Do you risk injury to a key piece of the future for your shot at the championship in the here and now or do you bench him and take your chances trying to win without him? Cubs fans know better than anybody that these opportunities don't come around often. I say throw all you can at your opponent while you're in this position. The future isn't guaranteed, Nationals. They won 100+ games without him, but with the way he's swinging the bat you're a better team with him in the lineup. I don't know what the Cubs medical people are saying, but he looked like he could run on the bases. I'd take my chances with him in the field and use him for the full game instead of just a few pinch hit AB's.

They are having him start at dh tomorrow so they have the good without the bad it seems

I think having Schwarbs coming off the bench is a pretty big advantage for the Cubs. If the game is close late, that's a really solid pinch hitting option. He's already shown he can handle that Indians bullpen, and I'm sure they're gonna need that here at some point.

I'd guess they'll save Kyle to pinch hit for the starting pitcher, & if they win that keep it going.

Then again, maybe I'd let him start in the lineup, & replace him after 2-3 at bats if they're up, even as early as the 5th.

This is Joe Maddon we're talking about so anything's probable.

id almost do the opposite. Bring him in late or so. That, or let him hit once then get rid of him, but that wouldn't serve a good purpose. ,

Yeah I would probably do the same he has a very good bat that could prove useful but you don't want to risk him getting injured or making a mistake on defense

Daniel Stern is powerfully bored, but still entertaining.
