You’re welcome for that one, BTW 😂

I’ll get more into the whole process in a day or so. It was a pretty interesting ride this year getting those from concept to final product, but we did it. I hope everyone enjoys them.

They haven’t officially unveiled it yet, but the Timbers’ USL affiliate, Timbers 2, will be wearing this as their new home kit this year:

It’s essentially just a dumbed down, miTeam version of the MLS side’s new primary kit.

Following up on this, here’s a good look at the jersey:

Ok, so I can’t get into a ton of the little details because some of it isn’t really meant to be public, but I can give you my personal feeling, at least.

They asked me last spring what I thought needed to be done and my only real suggestion was they absolutely NEEDED to find a way to bring back the sash. It’s what they won the title in, and it’s something the fans have been sorely missing. I had a bit more of a complex idea for how exactly it should look (I wanted the beveled star pattern to move from the sleeves to being part of the sash), but it wasn’t really doable based on what was offered, so this is what was chosen. Overall, I’m VERY happy with it. There were a few additional challenges this season that weren’t really an issue last year, but once all the kinks were worked out it all came together very nicely. My absolute favorite part is the change to the logo. There were very subtle changes made that I wasn’t sure about at first, but seeing it altogether as part of the whole package really shows how much of an absolute improvement it really was. One of the biggest issues I’ve personally had over the years is the overall consistency with the main logo. There’s been seemingly a new application for every medium, and its always kind of bugged me how all over the place it was. The recent changes definitely flattened out the look and took some of its depth, but after working with it I actually think that’s a good thing. It makes the whole application easier across all forms of media (this is IMO, BTW). I’m still not crazy about how they handle keylines, but that’s even become more consistent over time.

Good changes - my only concern is that I wished you had waited until getting an MLS slot, since you'll need to make minor changes again once that happens.  :D

On the whole, I like streamlining the design.  You didn't need those extra outlines, so removing them is a good thing.

I can't tell from this JPG - did you add a white keyline around it?  Because that was the single biggest need before.  I love the Republic logo, but this is brutal.

Now, the club knows that it needs a keyline, which is why they add one from time to time.

And most importantly:

White, sand, something.  Anything to separate the brown ribbon from dark backgrounds.

And by the way. good call on the sash.  ;)

I like the star outline being removed. But the inner border being removed makes it look csrtoonish

I totally understand this, and when seen by itself on a white background, I tend to agree. That was kind of my issue with the changes. The loss of depth gave it a weird look. But when used in most applications (especially on a red background) it actually translates much better. They recently put up all new banners at the park and it just looks so much cleaner and more professional. I’ll definitely have to snap some pictures to highlight what I mean.

I couldn’t agree more. The key line issue is one that’s always bugged me, and it’s something I’ve pointed out more than once. If you look at the branding package on the website now though, it appears that this update has standardized a subtle white keyline and I think it adds to the look tremendously.

Sorry! I just updated the post! 😂

I was trying to add a link, and didn’t want everything to get accidentally erased when I swapped between web pages on my mobile device. I tend to do quite a bit of after the fact editing to large posts for this reason.

Sorry, just got a little impatient.  😂

With that keyline, you've executed a flawless update to a logo that was already very. very good.   But what will you change when you get to MLS?  ;)

Because, c'mon, this is going to fit right in.

In my perfect world, abso-:censored:-ing-lutely.

My ideal choice would be to springboard on everything they’ve done, and tie Milwaukee’s new top-flight club to their century-long tradition of amateur and youth soccer.

(I wish)

I’m sorry but there’s got to be a better brand then the Bavarians

What's wrong with it?  Milwaukee has a strong German tradition that carries on to this day.

I’d hope they’d go all-in on a Bundesliga-style identity for their crest and name. Follow Inter Miami’s example of using non-English naming traditions, if Inter Miami doesn’t turn out to be vaporware or a tulpa.

I think simply going by Bavarians,  minus the city name would be a good way to stand out. Bayern Milwaukee would be just as bad as Milwaukee City.

Nah, you gotta get the city name in there.  Don't be afraid of your hometown.

And that's why I didn't suggest "Bayern Milwaukee", but "Milwaukee Bavarians".  Euro and American nickname all in one.

Bavarians FC sounds much better the Milwaukee Bavarians. Too 90s minor league. That was my problem with it
