Yes, it is; the Angels draw 3 million a year and southern California is actually a pleasant place to live. The only team that was better off for leaving Los Angeles was the Raiders, and that was because an idiosyncratic stadium situation and the NFL's blackout rules made it a fundamentally flawed enterprise. (Add the Chargers when they finally give up.)

The Angels are not moving outside of the Greater Los Angeles area. They will get a new ballpark somewhere in the Greater Los Angeles area.  

 

If Las Vegas doesn't get an existing team, they will likely be first in line to get an MLB expansion team, because of course they will be.

The Angels have had all this stadium angst, crappy ownership and play second-fiddle to the dynastic team of our time, but despite that have drawn relatively well and caught at least some coattails of being in a big market. So I don't see much value in moving them out of the market entirely (as long as they don't try to get cute with DTLA, which seems like suicide). They've always been a strong-if-unspectacular franchise during times of competent stewardship.

I don’t see the Angels leaving Southern California, but even if they did somehow beat the A’s to Las Vegas, I could see a scenario similar to the contraction talks circa 2000 where the A’s ultimately take up residence in Anaheim. In this day and age, the greater Los Angeles area will not be left without 2 teams.

Is winning one championship and coming up short the rest of the time make them the “dynastic team of our time” what ever that’s suppose to mean

If MLB ends up in Las Vegas, Nashville, or even Charlotte (expansion or relocation) what happens to the three minor league stadiums that are already there?

 

All three are very nice ballparks and are pretty new with Charlotte being the oldest opening in 2014. Nashville and Charlotte's are both downtown where MLB would want their ballparks but it doesn't seem possible to expand them to MLB capacities. Meanwhile, the Vegas stadium is out in the suburbs but MLB would want a stadium probably right off the strip. MLS won't want converted minor league baseball stadiums either.

Just observations from looking at Google Maps and images of the ballparks.

 

For Charlotte, it's built within a small city block and sits right up against the street. There's no room for any expansion in foul territory.

 

 

For Nashville it's a similar problem. Homeplate sits right up against the street, no room for an upper deck. They could shift the field towards the outfield as there looks to be a lot of space out there but that'd basically be building a whole new ballpark.

Nashville's can be expanded, but Charlotte's is sandwiched into a city block and thus can't be expanded without blocking off major parts of the road. It's a shame, too, because (IMO) Truist Field has the best view in the minors. That's not to say there aren't still places to build a stadium Uptown, it just can't be an expanded Truist Field.

You'd see the LA Rays (of Anaheim) within a decade.

 

The Rays may even take the existing park in as-is condition.

I agree with this but I still think their time in Orange County proper is just about done. It’s just more prosperous further north.
