Putting on my mod hat for a minute. The very second the discussion about MLB moving the ASG from Atlanta gets political, I will lock this thread and call a meeting of the mod squad to discuss disciplinary measures for any offenders. You all know the know the no politics rule. If you don't know the rule, I strongly suggest you look it up.

You have been officially notified.

Seconded.  I posted it only to be like, "okay, here's the post, now don't discuss it."

So with MLB wanting to still honor Hank Aaron, it makes me wonder if Milwaukee is a frontrunner as a replacement ASG host.

If they want to keep it in a National League park it makes sense. Maybe they just redo LA's logo from last year and play it there?

There are ways for people to say "I support this" or "I don't support this" without going on a political rant. I think. Maybe not. I guess we'll find out.

I'll try. I'm glad they moved the All-Star Game. Actions have consequences.

Re: interleague play, I think it's weird when two teams start the season with interleague, like the M's and Giants, but that's a math problem. There's really only so much you can do.

I would think that leagues always have contingency plans in place for things like this.  Maybe not for the exact reason of the change, but just a plan for if a change is needed.  It's unlikely that they're just starting to field calls from interested cities.  They probably have a plan B and just need to validate that it's still viable.  It would be great if they did Milwaukee just for the Aaron tie-in, but unless Milwaukee was already in the contingency plan, I'd be surprised if it happens.

Do you see how politics and sports are kind of intertwined in a manner that we can’t really do much about? I get the sentiment, but my goodness. “Disciplinary measures”. Give me a break.

Perhaps, but MLB also just took a lot money out of a lot of people's pockets in Atlanta.

I see how we have a no politics rule. Period. You find a way to get people to discuss politics without it turning into a fight and we'll award you the CCLSC Peace Prize. Until then, we're going to stick with what works.

Lol. You’re really the only mod who ever uses this weird respect my authority kinda talk, especially with things that are borderline political. That’s cool because it’s your prerogative and right to do so.

But just know I’m never EVER going to stop cracking on you for trying to fake it like you’re “The man” 😉

Do we have any data on how much ASGs help the locals or is this filed away next to the “taxpayer-funded stadiums stimulate economic development”?

I tend to agree that there's a difference between doing the politics we did right up until the election of, well. someone and when it's connected to our topics at hand. The recent / ongoing name changes and this All-Star game issue, among a few other things. The boards have chosen to error on the side skipping key elements of a topic as opposed to letting the political elements of the topics in. That said, thankfully the internet is a cesspool and I can go anywhere to hear people argue about the (redacted) versus (redacted) elements of the All-Star game decision.

I think what it comes down to is that it’s challenging to stick to sports when the sport  itself is not sticking to sports.

It's their second stadium in just under 30 years. People of Atlanta should be used to it by now.
