These are fun. I think it's smart to keep a set like this in the rotation, much like the Twins do with the '80s powder blues.

And maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I favor the simpler "T" cap logo, which is also the one I most associate with Nolan Ryan's Rangers stint. It in no way matches the jersey font here, I realize, but I instantly identify it with that franchise. Of course, this could just be nostalgia speaking.

I too like the simpler T cap logo, but IMO it looks better as a red letter outlined in white (see Rangers' Twitter avatar) than the white letter outlined in red (throwback hats). When they updated the blue hats in 2000, they had one with red T/white shadow, but they wore it like twice, for whatever reason.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

This is so much better than their current primary look.

It also doesn't help that the newer version of the T is asymmetrical, with the left side serif extending further than the right side. I've noticed that the new TX logo fixes this issue, but the primary logo does not...It bothers me every time I see it. I'd love some kind of modernization of the Nolan Ryan T at some point.

Here's a quick example I made to show this. Really hope they fix it at some point.

Here's the new TX logo where this was fixed:

So the Rangers obviously know about this symmetry problem and fixed it on the new alternate logo. I'm surprised they didn't just go ahead and fix the primary logo when they moved into their new stadium.

The drop shadow on the T has never really worked, because (as far as I can remember) they’ve never had the wordmarks or numbers that follow the same lead. They had the black drop shadow but those don’t really count, and the current cursive script has it, but it’s a totally different font. Why bother having that unique outlaw style wordmark prominently outlined, yet the primary logo uses a drop shadow instead? It’s always made the entire set look totally disjointed and unprofessional.

All the Rangers need is a white T with a consistent blue and then red outline. Then reverse it on the red caps. Home cap should use that with a red bill. The fixes for the Rangers are SO simple, yet they’ve always flubbed it up and every time they release a new look, it’s worse than the last.

I really don't care for players wearing different color undersleeves, it was much better when it was a contrasting color to the jersey.

Photo of Alec Bohm and Rhys Hoskins celebrating after the win.

Like the Phillies here, they should only ever wear the burgundy sleeves with the light blues.

That does look "off". It would be the same as a player wearing a white undershirt with a white jersey or a grey undershirt with road greys. Would look really bad. Or at least weird I guess.

** I will say, some colors don't look as offensive or off when worn with the same colored undershirt. Red, dark navy or black  jerseys for instance usually look okay this way. Probably just lighter colors that look wrong paired with the same colored light undershirt.

What I have personally found is that unless a team is OBVIOUSLY a light color-heavy team (like the Cardinals or Red Sox who are heavy on red), dark undershirts almost always look better.

They removed it for some reason. It's really jarring when they put the 2 next to each other. It honestly looks unfinished. Many pointed this out on Twitter last night.

Agreed, the headspoon piping looks 100% better when compared side to side.

Since the Mets have settled back into BFBS, I still really want to see this jersey make a comeback next:

I know it was just a templated batting practice jersey at the time, but it's good enough to be a full-time look and actually better than the black jerseys, IMO. Almost like a mix of eras since the striping isn't far removed from the racing stripes they wore in the '80s. I always loved how the black script and numbers popped off the blue base. One of those things that had no business working as well as it did.

They have one jersey (and hat) with black. They don't need to add black into anything else.

I've made enough posts that I don't have to make new ones. I'm in reruns until the next season premiere.

Cardinals have not used their light blue jerseys this season?

have they retired them?

Supply chain issues. The Saturday home uniform was used for the first time this season, yesterday. I’d expect the Saturday blue road uniform during the next Saturday road game.
