it sounds like Indy is still going for a 20,000 seat stadium. Im pretty sure MLS is just about set on having Las Vegas as team number 30 but, if they go to 32 Id say Indy could be a solid bet.

Hopefully Sacramento can get a team after they got screwed over, but I think that ship sailed a long time ago. I want San Diego to have a team and there's still Tampa too. And Detroit? MLS should just go to 36 teams, there's a lot of deserving cities.

San Diego probably has a better shot than Sacramento ever will now especially with the new stadium for San Diego State football going up. Former Republic FC money man & Penguins co-owner Ron Burkle is a SoCal guy. Maybe he gets involved with MLS San Diego.

Wild night in Cincinnati.  Cincinnati goes up 3-0 in the first 30 minutes (plus a disallowed goal by Brenner), then NYCFC storms back with 3 unanswered goals in stoppage time to tie it at the half (including a brace from Heber and a saved penalty). NYCFC takes the lead in the 52 minute and Brenner gets FCCs first hat trick in MLS play in the 70 minute to draw it up at 4. A disallowed goal (again by Brenner) in stoppage time nearly put FCC on top again for the win but the match ends in a 4-4 draw in what should have been a 6-5 FCC win, with Brenner scoring 5 goals (two disallowed)

I got a last minute invite from a college friend and we sat in the swanky club section with free food and drinks. Not too shabby.

That was the craziest soccer game I've ever been to. From my seats the refs were atrocious.

To my mind, the mediocre-to-miserable quality of Major League Soccer officiating is the league's greatest weakness.

I mean, if I was King of Soccer this ref would be looking for a new job today. After the game Pat Noonan said something to one of them about blowing a call and the assistant referee's response was something like "you blew it when you blew a 3-0 lead", which is just not acceptable behavior from a sports official. The score or the game's events should never influence your decision making on a specific call nor should you voice an opinion on the coach's and/or team's performance.

Noonan rules. He pulled one of my favorite moves in a dispute like that with "you :censored:ing know", a variation of my "You know I'm right".

Absolutely unprofessional by that official in particular. I know the officiating last night was atrocious but this guy went beyond. Apparently he also denied Brenner the game ball after the match after he scored his and the clubs first ever hat trick.

This is why I'd never make it as a ref (saying this as someone who 100% agrees all the points you made).

If I was refereeing basketball, every time a player complained to me about a call I'd be mentioning all the mistakes they made during the game as well. Which I would find hilarious but would obviously distract from the the game more than all the complaining already does.

apparently the Utah Royals could be returning in 2024.

Unfortunately wearing pleather-and-gatorade kits, no doubt.

Sacramento is never getting a MLS team, nor should they. They had their best opportunity pre pandemic, and it turns out what they actually had was fraudulent from the jump. People need to stop putting the Sacramento market as good for anything but another Wal Mart or something.

Do you think the scaled down USL stadium that the Republic just announced back in April will get built? I see Nagle is still involved.

The sunk cost already invested tells me that they’re going to eventually have to do something, but I’m not sure if the toxic waste dump they were talking about originally is going to be feasible for anyone, tbh. There’s a reason that section of land has sat unoccupied for over a century.

Wasnt expecting this but a good add for FC Cincinnati.  Sergio Santos is being traded to FC Cincy from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for GAM.

FC Cincinnati is slowly but surely stealing everyone from the Union:

Pat Noonan (Asst Coach PHI 2018-21, Head Coach CIN 2022-pre

Chris Albright (Player PHI 2012-13, Technical Staff PHI 2014-21,  General Manager CIN 2021-pre)

Austin Berry (player PHI 2014-15, Player CIN (USL) 2016-17, Strength and Conditioning Coach CIN 2018-pre)

Alvas Powell (CIN 2019, PHI 2021, CIN 2022)

Haris Medunjanin (PHI 2017-19, CIN 2020-pre)

Ray Gaddis (PHI 2012-20, retired 2021, Came out of retirement CIN 2022-pre)

Sergio Santos (PHI 2019-22, CIN 2022-pre)

Friday night primetime MLS soccer on ESPN is pretty sweet, actually. Especially when it's LAFC/LA Galaxy. Too bad Bale wasn't ready yet.

Especially when the Union put up a 7 spot on one of their rivals.

Agreed. Was really hoping for Bale to play so they could return the favor to the Galaxy when Zlatan had that game. Would have been a perfect game for his first.

Regardless, happy with the result. Still can’t believe Gareth Bale plays for LAFC.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

I'm happy about Bale in MLS for the strength of the league. I'll be pissed when LAFC beats Seattle in the playoffs.

Went to my first FC Cincinnati match (or any soccer match for that matter) ever. My takes:

-"The Tickle" is a beautiful stadium. Atmosphere is amazing.

-PRO Referees are a disgrace to the game. They make VAR pointless.

-Went to see FCC play the New York Red Bulls but all I saw was a New York team doing their best impersonations of Tom Daley.

-FCC fans will never forgive Frankie Amaya
