This could bring an edge to the rivalries and bring in higher attendance. I'll definitely try to make that game, seems like a great idea to me. I love the Rose Bowl and haven't been to a Galaxy game in years. Getting down to Carson is kind of a hassle and I refuse to go to a LAFC game even though their stadium looks amazing. I heard about that. They cant have it in Loudoun because the contract for the stadium says it has to be a division 2 club, while MLS Next Pro is division 3. While Id love to see Baltimore have a club I dont want DCUs reserve team there. Baltimore belongs in USL Championship. Huntsville was gunning for a USL League One club but Nashville outbid the USL bid and now fans in Huntsville are stuck with MLSNP. I dont want to see Baltimore get screwed the same way Huntsville did. The pandemic forced the League to move them to the Eastern Conference for the rest of the 2020 and the 2021 seasons. The League moved Nashville to the Western Conference for the 2022 season because of Charlotte FC entering the League, which would have created at 15/13 club imbalance. Soccer may be the best shot. Detroit The most annoying bit about San Antonio is that had the mayor not gotten goo goo eyes for the Saints we'd already have a MLS team. Instead the Earthquakes ended up in Houston. Austin got their first (and likely only) with Austin FC, but only because of their frat boy owner wanting to move one of the original MLS teams to Austin. I wasn’t too confident in the team based off of preseason and last season’s disappointing campaign, and then with the exceptional 2nd half of the season challenge from the Union coupled with the late summer struggles from LAFC, didn’t think we’d actually pull it off. Make no mistake, anything else than a MLS Cup will be a massive disappointment for this team. No excuses. I'm all for targeting markets that are growing and in which the team would be the only -- or one of the only -- games in town. A league that's still trying to grow would seem best-served in locations where it can get a lion's share of the buzz. It feels like an uphill battle to be the fourth or fifth major league team in a given market. MLS can too easily be cast aside as a fringe sport in those circumstances. I thought Cincinnati and St. Louis were interesting expansion markets: Slow-to-no-growth Midwest metros that are easy to overlook outside of their two pro sports teams.
