I agree that the Panthers are in definite need of simplification.  The modern jersey has just shrunk itself right out of their design.

Something just looks wrong with the empty sleeve cap. It was designed for something to be placed there, whether it be a number or logo

This looks better than I thought it would.  I was in the 'move TV number to the sleeves' camp, but this may be the way to go.

And half the rest of the league. Don’t know why striped socks have fallen so badly out of favor.

I mean half the league now prefers high white socks regardless of uniform, so classy socks just ain’t cool no more

Well, since both the Colts and the Panthers are football teams who wear uniforms, I guess.  But beyond that... no.

I was mostly poking fun at whoever said that they look like the Patriots because they have logos on the sleeves. This is no less true than that is though.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing them move the stripe to the sleeve, but just leaving it blank looks awkward.

Just half?

What I’m saying is that not everyone needs striped socks. Packers, Broncos, Bengals, Raiders, Lions, Panthers, Buccaneers, Steelers, Eagles, Giants, Texans, Chargers? No need.

Bills, Chiefs, Bears, Browns, Saints (long as they insist on those ugly black pants)? Yes, please! Plus other teams whose pants and socks often blend together...Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Vikings...they could even do custom sock striping.

49ers, Colts, Cowboys...I could go either way with them. Indy would probably be the first of those three that I’d give striped socks, if only because it would cancel out those hideous plain-white socks that they’ve taken to wearing on the road.

One of my favorite things that differentiated the pros from the student-atheletes for several decades was pros had pant stripes and did not wear solid white tube socks. Those days are long gone.

Even back in the day, OSU, Southern Cal, LSU, Georgia, Miami, and some of the other big programs had pant stripes. Now the socks, on the other hand...yeah.

I did not say college did not have striped pants, I said pro pants all had stripes from the mid 20th century until the rams came out with their stripeless gold pants in '99.

Never thought of that, but you’re right. Of course, the vast majority still do. It’s just that some of the stripes are funky.

I support the idea that more teams need striped socks. Mostly because I hate the solid white socks look (even more than the leotard look)

This is what comes to my mind when I see solid white socks with dark pants:

Foos (the higher the socks, the downer the foo)

So yeah, more teams need striped (or contrasting) socks

Not at all a fan. For some reason it feels like the Chiefs and Packers had a baby and this is what came out.

The Niners really don’t need gold on the jerseys, but if they were to insist, something closer to the last iteration (white number, gold outline, black drop shadow) would be much much better.

Problem with all of these tweaks to quirky uniforms with decades of familiarity and a tradition of winning is that fans will inevitably clamor for a return to the old set because that's what they are accustomed to.

I'm usually against thinking that one team shouldn't do something just because it's similar to another team. But I think the 5 alternating stripes thing should just be the Browns and the Saints. Even the Saints color rush (which should be their full time) wouldn't be killed by losing the striping pattern. The shade of gold and the number font are what make that uniform.

When I see plain white socks, I feel like whoever designed the uniforms stopped without being finished. Similar to a matte black helmet (or car).

The Saints’ Color Rush NEEDS either solid black socks, or white socks with black and gold stripes in said five-stripe pattern. The shade of gold is wonderful, the gold numerals are great, but they need...I mean, ideally, a new set designed around that aesthetic, with pants in that shade of gold with black/white/black stripes. And no plain white socks, ever.

Love the generic dudes for Washington, New Orleans, Giants, Kansas City, and others

Washington: how do you draw a generic “commander”?

NOLA: the could have drawn a priest or monk or something

Giants: relative to the card size, they couldn’t make a “giant” big

KC: there’s no way they would put a Native American on the card after the Washington name chaos and the general public’s opinion.
