Tampa might have the worst collection of alternate jerseys of any team in the league. Hopefully though I dont see it happening. Next season is the Adidas' last year kn contract with the NHL, so unless they re-up the deal between now and then, I think the program is done for good. I think once the new manufacturer establishes themselves (2-3 years into the contract) we'll see some sort of new league-wide jersey program. Agreed, that blue Bolts jersey was the best of the bunch, and actually had 2 versions. One had the 2007-2011 logo on the shoulder. And then they swapped it out for the current logo as well. Back in their original set they could have gone with a blue alternate. When they did they made it a 90s monstrosity with sleeve lightning wave stripes and a rain pattern. Then their Edge unis. Clearly what was needed was a more traditional alternate in blue. And we got that... with pointless piping and a dumb "BOLTS" wordmark. Ok. They strip everything down to a faux-O6 look with blue as the primary. So maybe something in black? Ok. We get that... and it has dumb grey gradient sleeves and numbers that are hard to read from the stands. The one time they did just the expected thing was when they recoloured the original jersey with blue as the primary for the RR, which was the alternate they should have had in the 90s and 00s all along. But of course that was a one and done. This team just can't stop themselves from overthinking very basic assignments. I see what they tried to do here with connecting their name with Black Panther Party and 2pac who was associate with BPP via his Mother but If someone need to do a 2pac tribute it should be a Red Wings IMO. Take those two sweaters plus the white one, swap out the original logo for the current logo, and the Lightning have their three sweater combination that they would never have to change again (whether black or blue would be primary is a different debate). I actually do like the blue "storm" jersey (I hated this year's white RR version), but that could never be more than a 2-3 times a year novelty, at the absolute most.
