I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else gripe that the set has THREE solid navy-colored caps. I really think the home cap should have had a red crown or red bill to create some variation.

Interesting point. I'd argue that the M cap should have a red bill.  An all-blue TC cap is a big part of the team history...I know they added a red-billed road hat for a while but I'd really hate for there to be no all-blue option with the white/red TC.

I like the all-navy cap at home because with the navy numbers (and hopefully they wear navy sleeves) it makes the red chest mark stand out more and differentiates them (somewhat) from the other navy/red teams.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of a red-billed hat for the Twins, because it pushes them closer into Cleveland & Atlanta territory.

If they were to have another cap, I'd want something similar to the 2014 ASG hat design, I think it'd work well with the home jersey.

But I wouldn't want that replacing the navy TC or the M cap. If the cream jersey had a little bit of red in it, that'd render the 2nd TC hat unnecessary, that could've been an option.

I’m crying foul (pun intended)! They stole my logo!

im kidding, I know it’s not that original of a concept. I feel like the Twins could have done a little more with theirs, but it’s ok.

I've used this exact same idea for years with my Minnesota NAFA team, not accusing you of stealing or anything but it's worth pointing out that it's a concept that can fall under the category of "too simple to be stolen". Slapping a star in the negative space of an M is an elegant look, no matter how it's executed, even if it's a bit generic.

To discuss the rebrand itself, I'm quite pleased. I'm not much of a baseball fan so I'm not the most in tune with baseball aesthetics, but I'm a fan of this rebrand. I like the simplicity of the set and the wordmarks and number font are really classy. Logos are solid. Wish they included a powder blue uniform, but it's a elegant-looking set that's really nice at best and inoffensive at worst. Solid job all around, despite some small flaws.

Through all of this, I feel the M cap is unnecessary. The TC is on par with the Yankees or Red Sox, and they don't need multiple cap logos.

Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Agreed. The more I see if the M Star cap, the more awful it looks. It’s so boring and uninspired, and frankly just feels derivative considering how close it is to what the T Wolves are doing. The previous M cap is one of my all time favorite caps and is a thousand times better than what they just came out with. Even with that, I’m going k that it’s gone because the TC is such a strong logo.

I’m willing to bet the M Star cap gets shelved entirely within 3 years.

Based on the mix of uniforms, it looks like they'll wear the M cap more than the two TC's combined. This assumes 100% "M" on the road and a number greater than zero at home. I would not be surprised if we see the primary TC paired up with the blue alt and/or the gray more often over the next few years, though. The primary TC has a tendency to win out over time...

I wish someone would try their hand at using the new M logo with the constellation of Gemini around it rather than the single star.

It'd be a cool astronomical reference and distinguish from the North Stars/Wild traditions.

I'm not creative enough to use the full constellation in a way that's not clunky, but what about using the two brightest stars: Castor and Pollux?

I agree that the cap logo should always be the TC -- nothing personal against the M, I do like it in a vacuum -- but in this particular case it seems more egregious because this rebrand really centers an updated TC. Just keep the focus there! Shame they won their WS rings during a period in the cap wilderness.

The other issue with having the three navy caps is that they had to come up with this whole separate one for the cream and no-red alternate. Painted themselves into a corner there.

So after a week, here are my thoughts:

Overall, I really like the set as a whole. Gold is gone, and there's more consistency throughout the brand than the previous set. I love the road pinstripes, as well as the retro tri-color striping on the uniforms. Gives it a nice retro feel while still feeling modern. The lack of outlines doesn't bother me at all, because overall it looks nice. I also really like the updated script with the underline under WIN still remaining.

My complaints:

  • I think the Twins heard "we want the M hat back" as "we want a M hat back." Fans wanted the classic Metrodome era M hat back, and instead we got a completely new M hat that is very mid. There's nothing wrong with it, but I will not be surprised at all if they end up slowly replacing it with the TC hat as time goes on.
  • I also think the Twins heard "we want road pinstripes again" and didn't realize that also meant on the homes as well. It's not my biggest gripe, but it is definitely odd that the homes are plain white while the roads have pinstripes. It definitely makes us unique, but man it's a head scratcher.
  • I'm still not used to the new TC yet, but that's probably just because I'm so used to the old one.
  • I'm sad Minnie & Paul will no longer be on the uniforms, but at least they will still be in center field at Target Field

Overall, I really like this new uniform set and think it is a great step in the right direction. I have a few minor gripes, but nothing big enough to dislike it. I can't wait to see them on the field in the spring!

Minnesota uses the North Star because of the state motto “L'Étoile du Nord,” meaning the Star of the North. As a result, one of Minnesota’s nicknames is the North Star State.

Completely unnecessary for the Twins and is the crown jewel of the flaming turd of the new set.

I got that, just thought it would be interesting to distinguish the baseball team specifically using the Gemini (Twins) constellation.

Especially since the main stars being Castor and Pollux and the most famous ancient depiction looks like this:

That sculpture proves that the Twins patch is yet another logo that would be vastly improved without pants.

Add Johnny Canuck and Pat Patriot to that list.  Someone in the concepts forum should get to work.

I’m thinking about the Padres friar, swinging for the fences, if you know what I mean.
