NFL 2023 Changes

While I like the Vanderbilt colors (and it looks like Nike can at least make them match), I'm in favor of a darker brass shade for the Saints.

If they could pull off something like this for a helmet (which isn't too far off from the  numbers on their throwback), we'd be good.  The throwback pants are really bad, so they'd have to find some way to match them better.

Unless I’m mistaken, I believe I saw somewhere that Vanderbilt’s pants are a case much like the Raiders where another manufacturer made them, & then Nike slapped their logo on.

I made the case in a reply to that Tweet that I’m not sure Vanderbilt’s & the Saints’ pants are all that different, I’d need a side-by-side comparison to know for sure.

Vanderbilt also appears to have at least a bit of an issue matching the helmet to the pants color, as well.

Regardless, the Saints matching the helmet to either shade would be a massive improvement over the vegas gold, not to mention the mismatch they have now with their Color Rush (which, as a side note, was a lot more drastic and bothersome than I remembered).

I think (?!) the point is that Nike produced thus can produce "gold" fabric that doesn't look like extra-hot washed khaki. Now it's incumbent upon the Saints to adapt the Vanderbilt shades and call it a day.

(All the other black and "gold" Nike college teams should follow suit...)

Those pants weren’t made by Nike. They have a belt, and completely different cut. Someone else made them

I broke that down back in August. Basically, the new gold pants are a completely different model than their other pants – a model not found in the public Nike catalog or worn by any other college or pro team. That led me to believe they were outsourced.

The second tweet in that thread really shows the difference, and the Saints definitely lean toward Vandy’s 2022 gold. The change was much more pronounced on the field than I anticipated. I think it showed best in their games against Florida – definitely gold and not “pale khaki”.

I’ll throw in the caveat that this game had some heavy rain, so that combined with the shiny fabric skewed things a bit. They were a much closer match on normal days.

They match well enough in those pics:

The shade of gold that suits the Saints is the one they began with. No khaki, no bronze.  Those inaugural uniforms were perfect.

They fall into the "They Got it Right the Very First Time" category with the Falcons, Vikings, Oilers and Dolphins.

Ion' know about the Oilers, but the other three...yeah, very solid case.

The Saints already play in the most drab and dark division in football. They should just lean into it. The bright champagne color always looked out of place and has way less character than the darker brassy gold, anyway.

I still advocate for a [rich, dark, brassy] gold and white set with black trim—that includes helmet, alternate or otherwise—in their next branding life...

Definitely the home uniform is my favorite of the Oilers' looks. As far as the white unis, I can see people liking the later Columbia blue numbers better than the red ones.

You could make a pretty solid case that the Oilers never had a bad home uniform.

I don’t think they ever had a bad home uniform. I’m not sure they ever had a bad road uniform either. Hard to go wrong with baby blue and red (plus briefly silver-blue).

Wow, that is *really* boring for (a) a Dolphins jersey, and (b) a fashion jersey.

any truth to the idea that the jets are getting new sets in 2024? jets fans on X seem convinced that because the five years are up and that everyone loves the sacks exchange throwback that they're going full-time throwback next year. one dude claims woody and christopher johnson basically confirmed that to him at a tailgate. lots of hearsay and inferences, but wondering if there's any truth to it?

A darker shade would be fantastic as well.

Don't like the darker grey at all. Looks too close to BFBS. I can tolerate the blue-ish silver look, but don't darken it any further.

I wonder if the silver-blue helmet was the same shade that Dallas was using?

My guess would be 2025. Generally there’s confirmation long before December/January.
