I know he chose number 8, but if Rodgers wore 4 in juco, 8 at Cal and 12 in GB, shouldn't the obvious choice for him in NY be 16 or 20?

Is 20 even an eligible QB number? If it is, has, like, ANY QB in the last 75 years wore 20?

It's not...but given all the other number rule changes, it should be. I'm trying to see it again...20, 21, 22, heck, 25. Bump it—33 and 36. I'm trying to see it again.

No, it isn't.  I didn't go back to check when I commented and just assumed that they also gave QBs the same option as RBs, i.e., 1-49.

I actually did too. I thought for as strict as they were with numbers in accordance with positions, QB could basically wear whatever number they wanted. Apparently not!

What the hell - Titans are getting $1.2B in public money for a domed stadium? Is that even remotely necessary?

If they’re gonna do that then hey maybe the A’s should look closer at Nashville after all! Who needs schools and public services? SPORTS!

If we’re talking about domed stadiums, I can understand Vegas and Phoenix, or snow areas. But when is the last time I’ve ever seen it snow in Nashville?

They want a Super Bowl and to get into the Final 4 rotation, need a dome for those. They can also use it for country music stuff and other big events.

Pragmatically, no. Then again, public money should never be necessary for these facilities—BUTTT, we know the day, the age, and the times we live in now.

Anyway, to summarily dig into the numbers of this soon-to-be new venue:

Nashville-Davidson County contribution: 760M

State of Tennessee contribution: 500M

Tennessee Titans contribution: 840M, plus all cost overruns.

About the soon-to-be-new playplace: apparently this place will have a translucent roof, which I'm guessing will be similar to US Bank in Minneapolis. It will be built in the parking lot of the current stadium, last I knew. And about that public kick-in: it is, by far, the largest public contribution to a sports team venue in history according to some outlets.

Aye caramba...

Besides the basic matter of how much money will be spent to build and maintain an indoor stadium for the Titans, my main concern with this project is whether or not the stadium's specifications will be generous enough to enable the hosting of many of the events that many business and political leaders throughout Nashville are hoping that such a venue will attract.  Right now, from all that I have read, this new stadium is being planned to have somewhere between 55,000 and 60,000 permanent seats.  Unfortunately for such a proposal -- and unless the rules have changed recently -- my understanding is that the NFL's criteria for a Super Bowl host venue include an ability to seat at least 70,000 for football.  Likewise, the NCAA's rules for a venue that hosts a Division I men's basketball Final Four seem to call for a minimum of 70,000 seats around a centrally located basketball court.  While a basketball court is definitely smaller than a football field, could a 60,000-seat (let alone 55,000-seat) football stadium be genuinely able to have enough seats be placed atop the outer parts of a football field to reach a capacity of 70,000 for basketball?

If those minimum-require numbers are true, I have to assume the people behind the stadium aren't idiots, an they'll get there - even if via temporary seating. LFF "only" holds 67k, but can go up to 80k with temporary bleachers in the SRO sections (unless some of their newer permastructures cut down on that.)   My biggest problem with this is the cover, though that's obviously needed in order for them to host these events.  Just wish it could be retractable, always open for football, and a truly open stadium - not just a hole in the roof.

But... even if they do get a Super Bowl (which seems to be the norm for a new stadium, even if just a one-time thing), will the NCAA work them into their rotation?  When was the last time a team was added to their championship rotation?  Will the influx of new events really justify a new >1B investment for a structure that will still remain empty most of the time?

though it opened 4 years earlier, Nissan Field looks (from the outside) to be relatively similar to Heinz, LFF, M&T, Cleveland Browns, and maybe a few others that haven't been barking about replacements.  Unless the inside is dilapadated and hasn't been incrementally upgraded, it just seems like such a waste.

I think the Jets get 2nd place at worst this season. With Rodgers I think they win the division. The Packers aren't likely to be in first.

Buffalo should still be the favorite in the AFC East. I think the Dolphins are better depending on what happens.

It was talked about earlier here, but the concrete structure of Nissan Field was incorrectly built. It lacks appropriate rebar in places. It isn't repairable.

Buffalo is due for a regression. Wouldn't be surprised if it was this season.

Sounds like someone should be on the hook via lawsuit, whether the building trades people that built it, the architect, or... someone.  For the city to be asked for $1.5B because a stadium wasn't built correctly doesn't make sense.
