His agent ONLY has him for a client, so he doesn't care about how negotiations go, since they can't be used against him with other teams or clients. The agent holds out for the best deal possible. Players didn't want rookies making so much money, so they limited the amount of money that they could make, but also got shorter contracts for draftees after round 1 so that they could be free agents sooner. If you don’t have a franchise QB, then don’t bother paying for one that’s not. Just someone to keep the seat warm till you find your guy. Two things: I actually think Jimmy G is going to cost the Raiders more (for at least a season) than Carr did. I could be misinformed about that detail, though. The deal is actually for less than I expected, and Meyers is going to be the WR2 behind Adams anyway, so I like this deal for the Raiders. There’s some concern as to how healthy Renfrow and Waller can stay, but if everyone’s healthy? Jimmy G, Jacobs, Adams, Meyers, Renfrow, and Waller is a pretty solid offensive group. Now they’ve just to fix that porous defense to give that offense a chance to keep up with the rest of the AFC. EDIT: Welp, Waller just got traded, so there’s that. One of these guys will probably be the Chad Henne replacement in Kansas City. Whether or not any of them have two epic postseason drives as Henne did remains to be seen.
