The last ever opening weekend of Pac-12 play (as it stands now) delivered some good-looking uni matchups. Really nice contrast in most of the games:

Took me a minute to recognize UNLV as they wore 1980s-era fauxback helmets. No comment on the UTEP uniform.

Yeah, I get why they went with the green jerseys for Ohio State between the combo of ND leaning into green for warm-weather games for better fan coordination and the panic over another Georgia game playing out in the crowd (where it looked even worse than it was because ND fans were mostly wearing dark shades), but I would've preferred ND to wear the green against USC in a couple weeks, partly because green has some tradition in that matchup and just that ND in home blues vs. OSU in road whites is a classic matchup.

 

 

 

Overall though, I thought these ND green jerseys were much better than the prior UA attempts. Definitely would've preferred gold pants for the balance and a more traditional look (see the player who's not dressed wearing gold shorts in the background of this pic), but they popped very well in-stadium (borderline too well).

I absolutely loved those Cal uniforms when the debuted. But for whatever reason, they haven't aged well in my eyes. Can't really put my finger on why, but I definitely do not love them anymore.

It looks like the Beavs may be going orange for the game this week, and they have teased a new helmet as well.

Here are the orange lids for the Beavs. The helmet finish seems very similar to their previous orange lids (last worn in 2018), maybe a touch lighter. Even though it wouldn’t match the jersey and pant striping, I think a single black stripe would’ve done wonders here. They basically would’ve just been an inverse of their standard black lids, which would’ve been better than just the plain orange shell IMO. I also have no idea why they went with monochrome Beaver decals, definitely unnecessary.

Finally some still shots of the Beavs’ new orange lids:

 

I think the finish is actually the same as their last orange lids, which is unfortunate because it makes the helmets look a bit too red. It also looks like the decals are transparent so the orange of the beaver head is just the helmet finish. The white eye and teeth of the full-color logo would’ve helped the helmets look more cohesive with the unis.

Even just an off-white outline around the logo would have worked wonders here. Not a bad look though.

Darker green works better for ND than kelly green IMO, even if they have gold pants

Utah is going black/white/black at Oregon State. Certainly not my favorite combo of theirs, but it’s a good choice to counter the Beavs’ mono-orange.

I really miss this look for Utah. If they put that helmet stripe on the pants and get rid of the pants text, they are perfect in my eyes.

I would've preferred white helmets/pants in this case since black is an Oregon State color and red wouldn't contrast well with orange, but it'll still look fine enough.

The Ducks are going with their classic green/white/green (one of the combos that should be worn every season IMO) at Stanford. Should be a great looking game as long as Furd doesn’t wear black.

Part of me hopes/thinks that they’ll use the green jerseys again, and potentially pair it with their gold pants. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for them to do another game with the color.

They already had the Shamrock Series to open the season in Ireland.

Just noticed that the Notre Dame green uniform inexplicably uses a gold UA logo on the jersey but a white UA logo on the pants.
