Worst Game You've Ever Attended

I was at a Leaf game in November of 2000. Leafs blew out the Bruins. There was really no atmosphere in that game. I'm sitting in the greens which cost $70.

Hey, I was at that game -- and I've only been to four Leafs games in my life.

I had Standing Room Only 'seats', $35 a ticket

You were  Strange things happen don't they? Well that was the ONLY Leaf game I have ever been to and maybe the only I will ever go to I will never buy a ticket to a Leaf game. Not unless those teachers sell their majority shares

I saw, I came, I left.

MLB- 1984, Texas Rangers @ Boston Red Sox -Fenway Park

The Sox dropped the game, but oddly enough that wasn't why I remember this game with disdain. I got to see for the very first time, widespread drunken mayhem in the form of Fenway Park's Bleacher Creatures. So it wasn't the sporting event as it addressed the actual game, but rather the atmosphere in the stadium with other "fans" and I use that term very loosely. <_<

It wasn't the best experience for me. A bit of my innocence was lost that day, I had always thought of sports up until that time as something pure and wholesome (I was only nine at the time). It started right in with all the talking and hooting durring the national anthem with people already liquored up well before the game. As the game progressed I got to witness drunken misbehavior, fighting, cursing at kids for no reson other than we were trying to watch the game, vomitting, assaults on police officers, assaults on other fans, another kid my age getting punched out by someone in his 30's trying to steal the home run ball he caught, and basically got to see a few thousand people that apparently had no interest in a baseball game.

I had never seen this kind of nonsense on television, heard it on the radio, or read it in the papers. The media even now buries such activity for the most part. Maybe it was always a bit of a fantasy thinking that baseball and sports as a whole was something better than what it is, but I have found something far closer to what I thought it should be in the form of minor league venues.

We all have our little faults. Mine's in California.

January 1, 2004 - Outback Bowl - Florida vs. Iowa

Iowa killed us. I don't know the exact score, but I think it was something around 35-17. What made it worse was that there was a group of college kids from Iowa were sitting next to us, and they were all acting like drunken neanderthals.

The first time I went to Skydome... OMG, the place is a theatre with the roof closed, and to add to that, my Orioles got beaten. But the worst part was that the game took about 5 hours due to a ton of pitching changes.

O yeah, seeing the Bills lose to the Texans was bad too. But at least then I was in a luxury box and got to watch security bounce out some guys who were, uhum, being "inappropriate for a family environment".

I'll nominate a 1996 high school game involving my team.

We got our butts handed to us 75-0 by our arch-rivals.

What was worse, however, was that they were trying to score as much as they could because their cross-town rival had put up 66 on us the previous week. Starters played midway through the fourth quarter.

last year my family took our annual trip to cincinnati for the reds. The reds gave up 13 runs to the phillies in the first inning, it was terrible the whole game. The ended up losing like 18-1.

this year i went to an jays/orioles game at the dome.

just as im sitting down to begin the game, O's leadoff hitter Brian Roberts pops one over the left field wall, and that is the ONLY run scored the entire game, until the 9th when our closer Batista comes in and lets up 3 more. O's win 4-1

craptacular.

Was that a basketball score? Football? Sorry that just struck me as funny.

When I was on the JV Basketball team, we had a scheduling error (against a non conference opponent we weren't familiar with) and agreed to play a varsity team by mistake.

Lost 92-10. Brutal. It was like 63-2 at the half.

I went to a girls basketball game at our school, in preparation for the marquee boys matchup between the #1 and #2 teams in the state. The girls, were probably #456, while the other team was probably #5. We lost like 124-34.

most of the bad ones I've been to, I was on one of the teams. One that sticks out to me was around 98, when I was on sophmore team and we went on the road to Kenosha. Basically, we got our asses handed to us, and to end the game I blew a block and watched our halfback get flattened. seriously, they took him off on an ambulance.

Second worst was the first half of the return trip the next season (I was on JV that year). they put 42 on us, and we couldn't punch it in once. oddly, this was the only game I remember where I was in for every play (yep, every single play)

You obviously don't know how hard it is to get Leafs tickets -- the only time i've ever actually had a seat for a Leafs game was a pre-season game in Sept 1990 vs the Nordiques.

The worst game I ever saw I didn't even get to see. I lived in Kansas City at the time, and Mariners were in town, along with my favorite ballplayer Ken Griffey Jr. My dad and I stopped by the local mall first, where I picked up a teal Mariners cap. We then got to the stadium and proceeded to sit through a 2+ hour rain delay, before the game was canceled. From sitting in the rain, I got sick.

I'm going to nominate a game I kept score for my basketball tournament this year. I was in charge of the Under-12 division.

This team from West Philly with one or two kids that looked more like 15 played a team from suburban Baltimore that was full of 10 and 11 year olds. The team from Philly won, 68-16. What made matters worse was that the coach of the team that was winning continued to press in the second half up by fifty points. My spotter had to leave the gym to keep himself from decking the guy.

And then to make matters worse, the team that lost dropped down to the consolation bracket where they were defeated 81-19.

Considering how badly his team got screwed in the draw, I commended the coach for doing his best in a very difficult situation.

How about this...

In September 2003 the Jays were playing the Rays in a 4-game series at SkyDome. Figuring a small crowd that series I took the opportunity to take 3 of the 4 games off and concentrate on school.

First game of the series, I'm off:

Roy Halladay gets ejected from the game for beaning a Devil Rays batter

Second game of the series, I'm off:

Another Jays pitcher (i forget who) beans a Rays player, getting tossed, and starts a bench clearing brawl.

Third game of the series, I'm there:

Nothing happens

Fourth game of the series, I'm off:

Carlos Delgado hits 4 home runs in 4 at bats

so the game you went to NOTHING happened. So no pitches, or hits, or anything else? Was the final score 0-0? :P I always say no matter how boring a baseball game is, they all have their shining moments. Just sometimes its harder to see than other times.
