The Oakland Athletics

its really cool because every player in the Oakland A's organization gets white shoes all the way from rookie ball to the MLB. Its meant as kind of a sign that you are part of the Oakland Athletics family. Its kind of strange to see their AAA team, which wears maroon black and white, wear the bright white shoes with the green trim but its still cool

The disco '70s are over! Those white shoes should go to the scrapheap of uniforms and equipment right along with the Astros rainbow, the Chisox shorts and skin-tight pajama uniforms. Read my lips- Baseball and football-black shoes only. Basketball-white shoes only, except the 16-time World Champion Boston Celtics must ALWAYS wear black shoes.

I don't think any team other than the A's have worn white shoes since the Astros ditched the rainbow sleeves for the Navy & Gold set in 1994. The Astros had worn white shoes since introducing the rainbow jerseys in 1975. The Padres wore white shoes from about 1976 through the 1984 World Series, going to black shoes when they introduced their brown pinstripe set in 1985. The California Angels wore white shoes in 1973 & 74 while the San Francisco Giants wore white shoes with their orange road jerseys in 1977 and again in 1980. The A's started wearing white shoes in 1966.

I think it's funny if you ever attend a game in an independant league. You sometimes will see a player on either team that is wearing white shoes. All you have to do is look in the program and see that they had played their previous year in the Oakland system. They stick out so much. I would spend the $80 and buy a pair of black shoes to fit in with my teammates.

It is a faux-pas because they don't wear white belts.

But white goes with everything. It's only a faux-pas when they wear the white shoes after Labor Day :P

I have to say that I think Oakland has probably the sharpest and cleanest looking uniforms in baseball aside from my Cardinals of course (i'm not biased at all btw)

The only thing im not a fan of was their "Road Alts" that were black with green lettering...im not even sure they wear those anymore.

I thought only women worried about when to wear white.
