-kj
I'm not a fan of this one. Actually, it's not that bad, but the underline and the overlap of the 9 and the E make it look odd. The old one wasn't exciting either, I suppose, but the western font did fit in with the team name. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! FiddySicks
That's weak. How is the new wordmark an upgrade from the old west font?? No. I agree with everyone else. Puckguy14
Sort of auniformity thing with the logos now. The font is the same as the SF in the 49ers primary logo. I think the 49 is from the team's rarely used 49th anniversary logo. Take the F from the primary, make it into the E use the S from the SF logo put the R in there and BAM! 2004 San Jose Sharks 7th Man Fan of the Year San Jose Gold Miners - 4x Lombardi Cup Champions
BBTV
Anyone else notice that each year fewer teams put the NFL and Conference logos in their end zones? WSU151
The old wordmark looked really bad on the field. This is a HUGE improvement I completely disagree. The old font was boring. this would be really nice if there was no underline! The old font was boring??? What makes this new font exciting?? It's just plain letters, with little style. That's what's boring... Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half. Titanium Eagle
I think it needs some white to make it pop more. It looks too muddy. I like it though.

It's just some zippy underlined GARBAGE that any team could trot out.
rtrich11
NEWS FLASH: Kind of like the Cleveland Browns' "B" secondary logo...it went bye-bye this year...Did anything replace it?As for the 49ers, I think they need some kind of happy medium between the old west font and something more modern. It has to reflect the gold rush, but still attractive to today's fans. cafepress.com/artbyrichards

York won't spend money on good players, do you think he's gonna spend more money than he has to on paint? But yes, the classic font looks perfect with red paint around it. IronChefShark
even in the glory days under Eddie Debartolo's ownership, the 49ers have always had just the script without a red background in the endzone during the regular season (and preseason after the Giants moved to SBC Park). They only paint the entire endzone during the playoffs. DGivens87
Anyone else notice that each year fewer teams put the NFL and Conference logos in their end zones? I don't know about NFC teams, but I know I see it less and less in the AFC. I remember the Pats used to have the NFL and AFC logos in the endzones back in 1994...maybe even 1995, but after that I think they stopped using those logos and just went with the "Patriots" script. IIRC, I think the Titans used to have the AFC logo in their endzones as well. The only team I think that still uses the AFC logo is the Colts. You already redid the togs and helmet, added a garish gold and red hue change, now this? Don't get me started with York. Especially if he tries to take the plot idea from Rachel Phelps from the movie "Major League" and attempt to make Paul Tagliabue happy. But there's no way the NFL would allow a team with 5 Super Bowl titles leave town... jkrdevil
I like the new wordmark, it matches the SF in the logo. I don't like the gold bar, if they got tid of that it would be perfect.
