what type of hat wearer are you?

the ones I wear regularly are all fashion...the one that resembles a game hat the most is a Cubs hat I just bought a couple weeks ago, it looks like the home hat except there's white and red piping around the side panels, and the bill is red underneath. the rest of the regular rotation is Bears orange/blue, Packers green/white with old Heisman logo, Bucks whiteout, and Bucks green/silver (both with the antlers logo).

I can wear adjustable visors okay, but adjustable hats look small on me now. I have a similar problem with the current BP caps. I wish they still made the mesh fitted BPs, those looked better.

I go with authentic

pretty much strictly 5950 from new era. I have two of every reds hat. 1 for the shelf where I plan on keeping the clean hats that I am going to collect and the other ones are for regular wearing. Those are all pretty worn in and dirty by now. But that doesn't mean I don't wear anything else. My blue jackets draft hat finds its way to my head every now and again.

those were great other than the fact that the bill wouldnt curver no matter what you did. if you like that type of mesh hat check out LIDS we are doing a Zephyr stretch fit mesh hat in the college styles. i really like them and they fit great. plus they have a two tone to them.

I don't mind hats with plastic bills because the bills are usually curved how I like them, anyway.

I know most people dont like em, especially how theyre so hit or miss, but the New Era 59Fiftys are the best hats money can buy. Sure the sizes are hit or miss, but when you find a good one it will fit like a glove from day one till the day the seams finally dissolve. And on top of that, they look great on almost anyones head.

Then there's those of us who almost NEVER wear hats of any kind.

I just hate wearing caps. Don't know why; just do.

It's gotta be the hair. It's beautiful.

Feathered and lethal.

You just don't see it nowadays.

For MLB, I only wear Franchise caps. For the NCAA, usually Swooshflex or any other Nike or low-profile cap. I have about 145 Michigan hats, so I'm not picky. For the NFL, I try and go low profile. Lately the training camp caps have been the best. I dig last year's Pats version, though I have the Patriots' franchise cap that is pretty much my favorite.

!!!!Lurker Alert!!!!

I wear a mix of fashion and Authentic. But my favorite is Zephyr. The fit is the absolute best for my head.

I'd like to wear more 5950s but I don't like lookin' like the Planter's Peanut Man or Abe F'n Linclon.

For me it all depends on if I like the hat or not. I like flex fit hats but I have a variety of different styles both authentic and fashion. I have 5950s and I have 5 dollar Twins Enterprise hats I got at Wal-Mart and just about anything in between. So I guess I'm saying I have no real preference.

I almost exclusively wear 5950 fitted flatbills. IDK why, its just like I can't see myself wearing anything with a curved brim and a flat logo on the hat...

Nats 5950s on game day. I have a replica road and the mesh BP. Still looking for a nice fashion cap. Unfortunately, I didn't grab one last year when the designs pleased my eye better than this year's offerings.

I wear a 7 1/2 or 7 5/8 so most of the franchise caps are almost like skullcaps and they're not the best for my head. Not too keen on the overly curved bills that look like parabolas which do nothing bud trigger bad high school Geometry flashbacks.

I can't stand having a flat bill on my hat. It has to have a curve. I usually like hats with the raised logos. The only hats that I will tolerate flat logos are on the Cooperstown Collection hats by New Era.

I agree with you about the curved brim, but I am with TFoA about the flat logos. I still have a couple of the New Eras that came out in the early '90s, and the flat logos look more appealing IMO. If I could grind the newer logos down without destroying the cap, I would.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

I have a medium-sized head, 7 1/8-7 1/4, so I usually rock Franchises in a Medium, but a Small or Large can be adjusted to fit. Zephyr "Player"s can also work...and I also have a Nike "6-4-3" USC hat that I bought at Ross for $6, it works as well. 5950s look like top hats on me, but I'm planning on buying a cheap one and ripping the seams out, like others have suggested...maybe that'll work.

And I can't stand adjustable hats. Only time I ever wear an adjustable hat is at work, so I can tuck my semi-ponytail through the back...damn foodservice regulations. :P

I used to be a 5950 guy and had breaking in the hat down to a science, me and my buddies used to be lifeguards and we would dip the hat in the pool and wear it while we guarded (never dipping the bill) it kept our heads cool and it molded shaped to our head. Then I discovered the Franchise hats and now they are my cap of choice. They fade a little too much, I have a brown Pittsburgh Pirate hat and a purple WVU hat and my newest Pirate hat is getting touches of brown, but I own a Steelers, Duke and a gold WVU hat all in the Franchise. I love them, for me, the best hat I can buy.

Authentic 59Fiftys for MLB, with the crown backing pulled out by hand.

Explain how you do so, please.

You do it by using tweezers to first take out all of the white strands in the crown backing and then taking out the black strands.

its a waste of time.

wet it, wear it. love it.

IATD: I actually do the reverse of what sacker described. The black filaments are what provides the structure; the white thread seems to keep them in place. If you can spread open some of the white threads enough to get at the black filaments, it can be done with tweezers. But there are small filaments in the ribbing that connects the hat's panels, and you need to get them too.

And it's not enough to just wet & wear. I've tried doing that alone, and it molds the hat a little bit to my head, but getting rid of the support filaments does more to knock the crown down than wetting the hat alone.

Thanks for getting that straight for me.

i use to do that same thing as a kid when i lifeguarded. but i didnt like how it would fade the hat quicker.
