sp0rtsguy13
And also the Minnesotta Wild go on my tops list. I liked it a lot back when they first became a team, and I liked it even better when I saw the bear head for the first time 5 years after the teams inaugural year. IceCap
NHLHockey's version of the Yankees "NY" Simple, tradition, recognizable. MLBBaseball's version of the Canadiens "CH" Simple, tradition, recognizable. The Yankees need to drop the "baseball and top hat logo" all together, and just use the "NY"NFLA great update to a classic look. Traditional, but has the same feel as the original. CFLThey went from worst to first. A great update, but like the Cards, keeps all the traditional elements from the original.NBAThis logo just seems perfect for a team named the "Houston Rockets." IMO the NBA's best, barly beating out the Celtics and Bulls.*Thanks to sportslogos.net for the logos. winghaz
MLB: You have to break it into two. Cap -- Yankees. Actual logo -- Tigers alt (the one with the Tiger coming out of the D.NFL: You have to break this into two, as well. Helmet -- Rams. Actual logo -- Vikings.NBA: BullsNHL: Tough call, but I go with PanthersCollege: Texas LonghornsAnd the overall winner ... Texas. It's streamlined, it's classic, it's simple and uncluttered, it says Texas Longhorns, it's everything you want in a logo. Unless you hate the Longhorns, of course. The Green Meanie
Simple, clean shape. Each letter means something, and the complete shape is easily recognizeable, not to mention a great color combonation. Although temporarily inactive, it will return some day. FiddySicks
I remember last year when Chris went on some canadian radio talk show they asked him this same question. His answer was:Reason? Its a brid, perched on a bat. It represents everything the team is about in such a simple logo (or something like that) .Anyway, heres mine,I love this logo. Its powerful and intimidating without being too over the top. It shows motion without looking too forced, and like the Cardinals logo, it represents everything the team is about in one simple, clean, well thought out image. It takes the classic pirate logo (skull and crossbones flag) and amps it up X1,000,000. Simply perfect for a team called the Buccaneers. NYCdog
Houston Texans. All the other logos mentioned on this thread are fantastic. But there is one thing that separates this logo from the rest of the pack...Creativity. Just trying to design a logo for a team with a lousy name as "the Texans" was difficult enough. Then only imagery that pops into my head when I think "Texans" is Cowboys, Bar-B-Que, Beer, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hank Hill. For the design team to come up with this logo from that name is simply mind blowing...... What firm designed this logo? I'm interested to see what else they've done.....As if this isnt enough...then there is the fact that this logo looks absolutely fabolous on anything....helmets, caps, t-shirts, posters, pillows and bed sets, neon bar signs....hell it would even kick ass on a toilet seat since the "on-the-field product" is basically crap anywayz. And lets not forget the uniforms either.....simply the best set the NFL has produced of late.Hands down, the logo that is superior to all in sports....the Houston Texans. I know that Rodney Richardson worked on this logo, whether it was after he opened RARE Design, I'm not sure. He also worked on the Broncos, Southern Miss, and the Memphis Grizzlies, to name a few. barnesdesign.netbarnesdesign.posterous.com/
clippers6
Houston Texans probably is the most creative logo given the name of the team. When I first heard the name I would have bet money the logo would feature a cowboy hat or something. When I first saw it I was impressed and a few night later I saw a guy with a Texans hat in a bar and bought him a drink for having such an awesome hat. I was really drunk and found out my ex had found herself a new man so I was in that "needing to find acceptance" mood. I figured a guy wearing a newly revealed logo for an out of market team might be a logo fan like me (this was before I found this website). I think I scared the guy who probably thought I was hitting on him My friend still remind me of the "remember when the guy in the Texans hat thought you were gay" incident to this day. Oh the perils of being a logo fan.Anyways, here's my list:NFL Helmet: I have to go with the Bengals. The Rams are a close second. NFL Logo: I'd say the Patriots. Like the Texans this is one that could be a little difficult. The patriotic theme is not always as easy to pull off as it might seem; take the 76ers for example. MLB Cap: Angels. The A with the halo stands for Angels and is also a landmark in Anaheim (the "Big A" next to Angel Stadium's halo lights up when the Angels win, people driving by on the freeway would know how the Angels did this way). It would be much better if the team was still the Anaheim Angels and if they didn't paint the Big A pink and green.MLB Logo: Most teams seem to care more about the cap logo than their other logos. Almost all of them are just team names in from of baseballs. I'm going to go with the Phillies since it has a fairly Philadelphia element (the Liberty Bell) and a baseball element (baseball field shaped crest), but really I wouldn't consider any of them great.NBA: Houston Rockets for the win. The Grizzlies one is also pretty neat, but aside from these two, most of the NBA logos are nothing special. Almost all the others are just words and a basketball. The Wizards one is just too busy for my tastes.NHL: The Penguins probably have the best cartoony logo in sports. They didn't try to make the penguin look mean or threatning, which would have been ridiculous for a penguin. He doesn't look decapitated like the Sabres' buffalo or like he's trying to hug you like the Panthers' panther. The Capitals, Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Wild also have good logos. The Blue Jackets have the worst logo in a professional league.NCAA: Don't know that many so I'll just got with UNC, both the interlocking letters and the foot.MLS: I like the Revolution. It isn't the most original, but is well done. The Fire is also pretty good.
