Cardinal Nation is deeply saddened today. He was an intrical part of the team and, more importantly, a member of the Cardinals Family, in which all who love Cardinals baseball are a part of. We truly are saddened when one of our own parish. He will be missed greatly.

R.I.P. Josh Hancock. We'll Miss You, But We Won't Forget You.

Shocking, I see they Postponed their game against the Cubs tonight, I guess thats a good idea. This is so eerily reminiscent of when Darryl Kile died because they were playing the Cubs then too.

I take baseball so seriously. More than just a game. I feel like I'm party of the whole Cardinals and lost one of my own even if I've never met him.

First off prayers to those who did know Josh--his family, friends, teammates. But may God keep watch on all of the Cardinal family tonight.

My heartful condolences to his family, the Cards organization and all its fans.

A death of a young person is always sad.

Yes, it's a tough day for the citizens of Cardinal Nation. I just came from the Cardinals MLB message board, and condolences are pouring in from classy fans of many other teams. Especially touching are the messages from fans of our closest rivals, the Cubs, Astros, and Brewers.

I go to lots of Cardinals games, and I truly enjoy meeting fans from other cities. One of the important functions of sports is to bring together people of different backgrounds and from different places, and this is one of the things I love most about sports.

Everyone please take a moment to reflect on all that is truly important: the love of family and friends.

RIP Josh Hancock

do you think Cardinals would do something with Hancocks number like they did with Daryl Kyle?

I'm sure they will, why wouldn't they?

FYI: the Cards won the division when Kyle died, but it is still so sad to hear the news. It's also really weird that we were playing the Cubs both times. We will never forget either of them

This was the car Hancock was driving. This just goes to show no matter how much you think your in control, no matter how safe you feel in the car with your seatbelts and reinforced steel bars, and no matter how casual you take driving, you can be killed so sickeningly easy it'll make your head spin. I get :censored: from my buddies all the time for never speeding, but its things like this that show EXACTLY why I dont speed.

This is so eerie, I was at the Cards game yesterday with my girlfriend and we sat in the bleachers behind the Cards bullpen. I watched Hancock come out and play catch with Speizio in right field before the top of each inning. For some reason I was paying particular attention to him every time he hopped out of the pen to play catch.

All of that coupled with the fact that I watched him pitch three innings yesterday is just creepy to me.

It just feels weird that I was sitting so close to him yesterday watching him play catch like any other ballplayer and I wake up this morning to learn he is gone.

RIP Josh, thanks for all you did for Cardinals nation....We will miss you.

They haven't completely reconstructed the scene, so nothing was official, but the Police Chief said he early evidence suggests he was either not speeding or just going a little (what I'd deem normal) amount over the speed limit.

We'll wait and see. Your point stands either way.

do you think Cardinals would do something with Hancocks number like they did with Daryl Kyle?

Walt Jocketty (Cards GM) said they will wear a patch on their sleeve and have some sort of thing in their bullpen (both of which DK had, DK's number remained in the bullpen, even after the move to new Busch).

ESPN showed a picture of an away jersey that had a black circle patch with a plain (not block) white 32 in the center sewn on the sleeve.

I'm pretty sure it was the left sleeve, but on the home jerseys I guess they'll do the right sleeve with the WS patch on the left.

DK's patch was similar, but the initials DK were smaller above his number 57. That's also the same image that is in the bullpen.

So my guess is for Hancock the same black circle with 32 will appear in the bullpen, but they made add his initials JH to it there.

I'm still in shock over this. So many things to be thought about after something like this, but more than anything, it's just painful. It may have just been interviews, pitching appearances, nothing personal, but it just feels like we lost someone we knew today.
