Its pretty obvious that the players hate wearing their all sand unis anymore, Even though ive always thought they were nice and different, It really disappoints me seeing them dawn those softball looking blue tops all the damn time on the road, So do you think im alone here in thinking that after this season they will change it up next year in some capacity.

Apostrophes are you friend. So are question marks. Also, there and their are two different things.

Anyway, how do you know that the players hate the sand uniform? Could it just be that the cool-base jerseys are only available in blue? If they don't have a sand cool-base, that may explain why they've switched to their blues. It's the same reason the Astros have been going with brick on the road for the past couple of seasons. IMO the sand is unique, and should be kept.

No. We would probably know about it already. And even though the players don't wear tem too often, I almost think it has nothing to do with that the players dislike them. I think it has more to do with the fact that they dont have a sand CoolBase uni and they do have a blue one. That and the blue alt is a beautiful jersey and the players like it so it should be worn often. Could be wrong, but that would be my guess.

Dont forget its your not you. <_< Anyways back on topic. I believe management said recently that the camo uni's will be an official alternate jersey next year so that the team can wear them for every Home Sunday Game.

They already are an official alternate, as of this season at least

Sandy Alderson said recently on a local sports radio show here that he likes the current uniforms, and definitely likes the all-sand road uni's, but the players refuse to wear them except for maybe once in a blue moon!

The team looks so boring in the blue tops because they have been over saturated.

He did say that bringing back the brown in some capacity is a possibility, but didn't say more than that.

I'd be all about the khaki road jersey if that had the Swingin' Friar on the sleeve, instead of the lame home plate/wave primary logo. On that basis alone, the navy jersey is the best of their current set.

And if it had a better wordmark than the one currently on it.

Yes, the Padres should dump the sand road jerseys. Everything that's different from what my favorite team wore when I was 13 years old and/or the last time my favorite team won a pennant sucks. All teams should wear identical gray uniforms on the road, with no pinstripes, and dark navy block letters that say "NEW YORK" and no names on the back. "Original" is just uppity designer-speak for "stupid".

And I'm sure that the players really hate wearing khaki clothes. Other than pretty much every man in America and the members of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, what kind of girly-man whimp wears tan clothing in summer? Those poor Padres players must feel like complete tools wearing khaki pants. So yes, the Padres should dump the sand road jerseys.

Setting aside bileous sarcasm, although I hate the basic idea of "alt" jerseys where they just change the fabric color of a normal jersey, the look of the Padres tan pants with their navy alts is freakin' awesome. They look like a bunch of corporate VPs of sales and marketing got yanked out of a convention hall, or like they're in a hurry to get out of the ballpark to make a late tee time at the public golf course. It's such a workaday look that it completely charms me. Navy shirt and tan pants is sort of like the unofficial men's uniform of everywhere I've ever worked, from labor, retail, and internships in high school and college to newspaper, marketing, and nonprofit offices since.

And yes, the khaki shirts should have the swinging friar on them. Hadn't thought of that, but it would be a brilliant change.

According to something I read on UniWatch a few days ago, CoolBase is only available in white and alternate jerseys. So that might be something to do with the Padres going with blue.

The Astros wear red on the road almost exclusively because of the CoolBase feature and because owner Drayton McLane likes the red, according to an Astros.com article from earlier this season.

To answer the topic question simply, "No."

Why does everyone have to be gray? I like the khaki and I also think the Jays should have gone through with the graphite. Someone should bring back powder blue. The Marlins or Rays should bring back the gray-green. Not saying everyone should be unique, but even the grays don't all match, so why not have some standout teams?

I agree that there should be a limit on alt use... I'm not liking this CoolBase excuse, but it seems legit.

This might be an odd question but why are the khakis (and apparently the road greys of other teams) not available in Cool Base? doesnt that kinda force teams to wear their coloured alternates when they come play in a hot road city like San Diego? So when we go see the Padres play theres a high probability of seeing the road team in an annoying alternate.

I'd also like to see the Padres wear the all-khakis on the road more often. Please. The only thing I've heard about players not liking it was a story a while back ago that said that David Wells really liked wearing the blue alternate, but if the starting pitcher gets to decide which uniform to use it seems that at least the starting pitchers hate the "SanDiegO" shirt. Thats a real shame because a lot of fans wear the sands at Petco Park and when they show Padres fans in road ballparks they're either wearing the sands or a throwback, so fan support is there.

Y'know, I've said this before and I'll say it again...I just don't see why their is such a strong hatred towards the khaki unis. With companies like The Gap and Banana Republic basically ramming boring khaki and other monotone clothing down the throats of young Americans you would think that the new Padres road unis would be a hit.

All bad jokes aside....I don't mind the color, its the font and the alt logo that I completely hate. I think its boring to have all teams where grey on the road. Some unique color here and there doesn't hurt (i.e. Royals and Brewers light blue) But thats just my opinion.
