Chazberg
I'm gonna go ahead and guess it's a black armband to commemorate a death in the organization.

Gothamite
Great video. Piles of snow line the sidelines, everybody's bundled up, players slide on ice in the end zone, and the announcer says "A December day... it is Viking Weather."Oh, how things change.... MarkAtnip
Great video. Piles of snow line the sidelines, everybody's bundled up, players slide on ice in the end zone, and the announcer says "A December day... it is Viking Weather."Oh, how things change....Not to mention the giant shoulder stripes on the Eagles uniforms, the variations of stripe width on the socks, (probably because there are players wearing multiple pairs) the variety of facemasks and the sleeves on the jerseys. Are there places other than youtube where vintage NFL game clips are available?
leopard88
Great video. Piles of snow line the sidelines, everybody's bundled up, players slide on ice in the end zone, and the announcer says "A December day... it is Viking Weather."Oh, how things change....Agreed. There would be something wrong with seeing a slow motion shot of Alan Page, Jim Marshall and Carl Eller staring across the line of scrimmage in the Metrodome. PackerBadger
Great video. Piles of snow line the sidelines, everybody's bundled up, players slide on ice in the end zone, and the announcer says "A December day... it is Viking Weather."Oh, how things change....Not really. The announcer, Don Criqui, is STILL doing games for CBS.
smith03
The armband was for Jacko Nelson an assistant coach who died during the seaon of I believe a heart attack near the end of the 1978 season.
dirwuf
...check out the lack of celebrations after the touchdowns, not so much as a spike...todays players go nuts when they get a first down.

enigma4289
Ahh, old time football. How can you not love it.
leedsunited
OMG, that clip was beautiful in every single way. Classic unis, outdoor Viking football, SNOW on the sidelines, composed TV announcers, no stupid on-screen scoreboards and assorted gimmickry. It really makes me want to cry. BlueSky
Thanks for posting that. Good times.I will never understand why teams like the Vikings give up an enormous home-field advantage by playing in a dome.
RickV
Damn those Viking unis are beautiful. What a shame. Minnesota Vikings football in the snow, ahhhh, I'm getting misty too.
