JayJaxon
Left in him? He's been in the majors for six years. I would hope there's something left in the tank.I didn't mean he was old or anything. I meant that people tried to say his value was down because he wasn't playing in Colorado anymore. Of course I don't believe that for one second. HedleyLamarr
With Holliday, I think a lot of it had to do with playing to empty seats on a bad team in a garbage stadium. It wasn't like he was dying to play for The A's. Now he's back to playing on a competitive team where he's actually allowed to swing the bat and he's playing in front of actual people again. If it were me, I know I'd be a little more fired up to go to the ballpark in St. Louis than I would be in Oakland.I heard Matt Holliday draws his power from all the fans wearing red. Psychologists have proven that red has a stimulating effect, and for so many people to wear it causes synergy you just don't get in, say, New York. The St. Louis Cardinals: fueled by Color Power. Also steroids if you're Ryan Franklin, but otherwise Color Power.Rick Ankiel didn't use HGH....he just drank Cardinal Cool-Aid.

Being a Cardinal actually predates the St. Louis Cardinals organization. They found an urn from the fall of Rome that reads, "E Adversitum Cardinalidae," or "from adversity, Cardinals." Then there's a picture of a guy putting a mylar balloon next to a corpse. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Still MIGHTY
The Angels scored 35 runs in a 3-game sweep of the Twins. They are 14-3 since the All-Star Break, leading MLB in team batting average, runs scored, RBI, 2nd in stolen bases and OBP, best record in the AL and one game behind the Dodgers for the MLB lead. And they're still waiting on Torii Hunter and Vlad to come back. And with Kendry Morales being named AL Player of the Week today (with 5 HR, 13 RBIs and a 1.077 SLG with 28 total bases this week) I agree with what Shumway said on the last page, who needs Mark Teixiera when you have Kendry Morales? Morales - 358 AB in 96 games with a .299 BA, .581 SLG, .350 OBP, 23 HR, 69 RBI, and 107 H. Making $1,100,000 in 2009.Teixeira - 400 AB in 101 games with a .283 BA, .548 SLG, .380 OBP, 26 HR, 77 RBI, 113 H. Making $20,625,000 in 2009Comparable stats. Sport
Personally, I would love to see an all-LA world series. It'd be more interesting than the usual two cities that have nothing to do with each other. Although, I'm still holding out hope that the Marlins pull a miracle run again. After all, it's been 6 years since 2003 which was 6 years after 1997. Meanwhile the FReds (which means F*#$ing Reds!) have lost 7 straight and 13 out of their last 14. They were 2 games under 500 at the break! I can't remember the Reds, as bad as they've been this decade go through a run like this.
Cujo
Since the Giants' Pedro Sandoval is out of the running (ineligible), I'm gonna go ahead and pull a homer by nominating Cubs pitcher Randy Wells for NL Rookie of the Year. The guy's got an ERA of 2.73 and a WHIP of 1.14 in sixteen games this season. On top of that, Wells has eight wins since mid-June, which more than any other starter in the bigs. As of this very moment, I don't know if any NL rookie who can really match-up with those kind of numbers.

STL FANATIC
Rasmus has a shot only because there's 50-ish games left to decide the award. But if the season ended today, I think Colby would be out of the running. He's 3 for 40, with no homers, and 1 RBI since the All Star Break, and that combined with the acquisition and Rick Ankiel's bat coming around will shorten his playing time. But, 50 games is certainly enough time for him to get hot again and race back to the front.
