fkaKrock5cent
What's truly wild is the ref's uniforms. How's that for a throwback? When's the last time ref's have worn throwbacks on the same field as the players wearing them?
FiddySicks
I posted this in the regualr NFL thread, but I'll put it here too.At first I liked the idea of the Titans wearing Oliers gear, but the more I see it the more out of place it looks. It just isn't right for a team called the Tennessee Titans to be wearing HOUSTON Oilers caps on the sideline, especially when there's a team in Houston. And The Houston got doubley slapped this season with the Chiefs wearing Texans gear. Add that to the Jets wearing Titans uniforms, the whole throwback thing just looks dumb. It shouldn't be like this forever but for a year it's a nice celebration of the only league to successfully challenge the NFL.
Slickster
The #9 stickers on the helmets are a classy touch.Holy mackerel, those ARE retro markings on the field - and not an NFL logo in sight!
fkaKrock5cent
Are the field markings NFL regulation or AFL throwback? The extra hashes are for the high school games that they host during the season. There's other lines on the field too and I think they are from the ceremony it's self.
slapshot
Fawcett Stadium has 3 sets of markings...high school, college, and NFL. Not sure what the markings just above the numbers are. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
Spearhead
At one point the much discussed vertically striped field stocking (as my old equipment manager would call socks) was a part of Wilson's uniform catalog circa 1960-61:I have heard a couple of people say they saw high school teams wearing the style but I have never seen proof of it. From what I understand, the Broncs obtained their brown and yellow first uniform set from an all-star game.

slapshot
I do too, I just wish the numbers were more legible, and the socks were striped. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016

Cujo
The referee throwbacks were sweet. I hope they make a return appearance for the regular season legacy games.
Gothamite
Oh, they will. The NFL didn't order those just for the pre-season.I hope that the league continues this for future throwbacks - I'd love to see the refs in those little white newsboy caps. oldschoolvikings
Can we start new threads as these uniforms start showing up without somebody getting all crabby?Or is it absolutely necessary to dig through this thread everytime? http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
BlueSky
If those Oiler helmets had the same thin red outline around the logo and stripes that the jersey numbers have, that set would be perfection.
DustDevil61
Those Oilers uniforms look so awsome that if the Titan consider some uniform changes, they should go with that number font. Oh, yea, and please use more red. http://i.imgur.com/Pyc5qRH.gifhttp://i.imgur.com/RDXvxFE.gif LED Sig Credits to packerfan21396
WJMorris3
Fawcett Stadium has 3 sets of markings...high school, college, and NFL. Not sure what the markings just above the numbers are.OK. Those lines are because the field has numbers on it in the college location (I think). If memory serves, college numbers' top are nine yards from the sideline, whereas NFL numbers' bottoms are twelve yards from the sideline. There are rules involving substitution that use the numbers as a justification. For instance, if you substitute in, you must come in at least past the numbers to be legally in - so you can't sneak a player onto the field for a cheap pass play.
