fkaKrock5cent
the thing that bothers me is when people say the Falcons "dont need" the silver lining or the red stripes on the wings. honestly, that is standardizing and knocking down the logo to the simplest form possible. let them use those cool red stripes... i really like them.anyone who thinks the old logo is better than the new one is crazy in my mind.<----crazy, I guess.Me too. Change came for the Giants and Jets, and they thought better of it, and changed back.I happen to like a lot of helmet logo updates that we've got in the last few year (because I DO know that its 2009... not 2010 <?>)... the Cardinals, Eagles, Lions, 49ers, and Vikings all made good modern updates on their logos IMO. I just don't happen to think the Falcons are one of them. To me, they just went too... I dunno... "slick" for lack of a better word. I hadn't given the old one that much thought til seeing these throwbacks, and what can I say? I just like the old one better. And I still will when it finally IS 2010. http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
Brave-Bird 08
I mean I respect yalls opinions. I just think the major difference between the old one and the new one is that the old one looks weak. I know I'm young but I did have that logo in about 20 diff places in my bedroom growing up , and always thought it needed to change haha. The Packers, Bears, Steelers logos dont look dumb. IMO the old Falcons logo looks dump.

I think with some changes this could have been a home run had they toned it down a bit, but it's still an upgrade to me.

It also passed the book-cover test. The what now?IMO, a great logo is so simple that a kid can draw it relatively accurately on his book cover when he's bored in school (like I used to.) Logos that are "pictures" or "art" are really difficult for a 3rd grader to draw, and end up looking crappy. Simple iconic logos (Flyers P for example) pass the test, and are my favorite type of logo. The old Falcons logo - while admittedly a little dated - is in this category. That's not to say it's a bad logo but change has to come eventually.Change doesn't have to radically alter the look. IMO the new 'in action' falcon looks like it's either in a nosedive (good for a real life falcon grabbing a field mouse for lunch, bad as an illustration of your team's direction) or stumbling drunk. The way the feathers are spread doesn't look right either IMO. But as someone else said, to each their own, we can just agree to disagree. One thing I always found amusing though - and I FINALLY found a pic to back it up - is that in NFL Films material from the '60's showing Falcons staff, their gear often has the logo facing to the left, as if it never dawned on somebody that it's in the shape of an 'F'. DOH! Wow...looked further and found this. It's official: they didn't get the 'F' thing! And while looking for a pic of that, I found this...talk about WTF?!? I've never seen anything like this related to the Falcons. Good God, can we ever get away from Favre? There he is again at the far left on the pennant. Looks like he's chasing someone...must have thrown another pick.

FiddySicks
I really like the current Falcons uniforms, but these are TONS better. One thing I always loved about the Falcons (prior to the current change) is the fact that their jerseys were incredibly simple. IMO a black football jersey with just a few hints of color and nothing more is one of the fiercest looking elements you can possibly have. It's almost like it says, hey, we're here for one simple reason, to beat the snot outta you. Brave-Bird 08
The Falcons original update from 2003 was great... it was the same overall look...but the white pants looked better than the black...and the sleeve which actually contrasted b/c it was red not only balanced out and looked good... but it emphasized the color red more which is what i thought needed to be done.primary black...emphasize red. I loved the original home uniform from 2003...I even always pick it as my primary on Madden I think the switch to the red jersey and alt pants and socks really dropped the Falcons down my fav uniform list. The red would be a great alternate...but having a black helmet...an all red jersey...and mostly red pants and socks does not look as good.and keep in mind the sleeve design stays red...so that dual color contrast that exists on the black jersey is gone...thats my gripe. I love the Falcons branding and uniforms...but they need to revert back to 2003. The throwback is good too...but I hope the old logo never comes back into play (even though im sure it wont)

Considering the team has never even had two consecutive winning seasons, I doubt anyone is intimidated. I do get what you're saying though, and I guess that's the thought behind the Raiders simpleness. I think they have the market cornered on that gimmick, and everyone else should actually put some thought into designing their uniforms to be consistent with their identity. Gothamite
And while looking for a pic of that, I found this...talk about WTF?!? I've never seen anything like this related to the Falcons. See, I love that. Looks like the old Eagles logo, which was infinitely better than anything the Falcons have ever used.Start with that, update it, and you'd have a winner. RickV
A somewhat faded shot of the home set:I have a throwback Tommy Nobis of this era. It is incredibly good looking. Is yours the sleeve with the logo or with stripes? This is kind of funny - could the logos be any bigger? And the helmet bird is a hunchback. Ironic that the Falcons look like Georgia since the Saints are Atlanta's biggest rival and GT is Georgia's (or one of 'em, Florida might argue the point). BTW, thank God they didn't do THIS in 1974. From helmethut.com:My jersey has the logo, not the stripes.
