Linebacker Teddy Bruschi will announce his retirement (again) after 13 seasons with the Patriots.

Kinda shady that he calls it quits at the same time teams are trimming down their rosters. Props to him on the comaback, but I guess after so long, he had nothing left to give.

It's not shady at all. For sure, it was time. At this point he is nothing more than a backup who would have even had to fight for a roster spot. But he was never given one signal that he was going to be cut and the team never gave him any sort option of retiring or getting cut. Tedy recognized that it was time, and for doing that at a time like this tops it off for me. He goes out with class, not lingering one day past the threshold where he starts to hurt the team. And by his own choice. Very surprising in today's sports world, and I am utterly impressed.

Tedy, yours is the only sports jersey I own, and although it is 3 sizes too small, today I will wear it in honor of you. You brought Bill Belichick to the most emotional state I have ever seen him this morning, and you brought nothing but good to this franchise. Best of luck and you will never be forgotten.

Over/Under on references to Bruschi in the Bills/Pats Monday Night opener. I think I heard there were like 70something (only talking about his stroke or resilience not a good play) the last time the Bills and Pats played on MNF, the night he came back from his stroke.

I know it's preseason...

I know the Bengals, Texans, and Raiders are not elite teams...

I know injuries can strike at any time...

but...

...Gregg Williams is the Saints' new DC and his stated goals were to play more aggressively, create turnovers, and improve in scoring defense. In 3 games now the Saints have outscored their opponents 100-28 and have created 9 turnovers. If they can carry ANY of that over to the regular season, look out.

Time will tell but I'm really looking forward to the season.

Oh no! Brett Favre may have a cracked rib.

Brett Favre told ESPN before the Minnesota Vikings' game on Monday that he suspects he may have a cracked rib.

Favre hasn't had an official diagnosis, but he says taking a deep breath causes discomfort. The 39-year-old quarterback isn't listed on the injury report and no other other Vikings official mentioned the injury pregame.

The three-time MVP says he has no plans to wear any kinds of special padding, saying "the damage is done." Favre is expected to play the entire first half against the Houston Texans.

Favre, who signed a $25 million deal with the Vikings on Aug. 18, completed just one pass for four yards over two series in his Minnesota debut just days late

From the "I didn't see that coming" department  : Matt Schaub is injured on a scramble.

I once had a car but I crashed it. I once had a guitar but I smashed it. I once, wait where am I going with this?

So Favre throws an illegeal crackback block and nearly takes out Eugene Wilson's knee. Cold this guy be any more of a douche?

At least the MNF announcers were against it. They said it wasn't cool no matter who it is. But really if you can't block the way your suuposed to, and have to resort to cheap shots just to get by, you shouldn't be out there when you're supposed to block.

What exactly happened to Schaub?

If the MNF crew was as close to the benches as NBA crews were, Jaws, Chucky, and Tirico would be falling all over themselves to suck Bratt's dick.

As a Falcons fan, I hope the Saints defense doesn't improve.

Owning the Saints defense in Fantasy Football, I hope they produce a high number of points in the sacks/turnovers department....

I liked when he overthrew that deep ball about 10 yards, but the announcers still were slurping him and saying how great it was that he gave his receiver a chance to make a play, lol.
