2010 NBA Playoffs thread

I figured we'd hear from you again once the Magic won a game. :P

Of course! But i'm also a realistic thinker and I'm not going to get my hopes up unless the Magic can get past tonight(don't want to jump ahead) and pull off a win in Boston(now that would be impressive).

The Magic certainly look like they're on their way to a victory tonight. They've dominated play thus far, even though it's an eight-point game as I type. They're getting open looks, getting back on defense, and playing with more energy than the Celtics.

Am I the only one who thinks this Magic team could be the first team ever to come back from 0-3 down?

No you are not, it's bound to happen sometime and why not now. They sure have turned the ship around in the last couple games. The true test(obviously) will be tomorrow night in Boston.

Gregmond: No. I guarantee that will be the buzz if the Magic win, and Stu Scott was already hinting it at halftime. When you break it down, it really doesn't seem all that impossible, does it?

I get that they're (mostly) unintentional, but I'm kinda tired of Howard's elbows throwing around and hitting people (and hurting people) and not even getting a personal called. Fine -- eject Perkins on complete BS, but at least call 1/2 of those elbows. He does it because he gets away with it, and I don't necessarily blame him for that. It just should be a foul.

I'm kinda tired of Howard getting, mauled, mugged, scratched and horse-collar tackeled when he goes up for dunk/shot attempts in the paint. If he were Lebron, Kobe, Melo, Wade or Paul "Oscar award winner" Pierce each of those fouls would be flagrant 1 or 2's. In Pierce's case it would be another dramatic exit in a wheelchair screaming in agony, only to return 10 min later and taunt the crowd. You also can't blame it on officiating because the officiating in games 1 and 2 was sketchy in favor of Boston(if you want to compare apples & oranges).

Just saying...It's the Playoffs and it's damn physical. Howard obviously isn't trying to hurt anybody, if the Celtics want to whine then they should grab their own rebounds and swing their elbows around to secure the ball. Dennis Rodman was notorious for his boxouts and ball securing elbow thrashes, and that is the reason he is the NBA's all-time most prolific rebounder(Sorry Wilt). But I guess its human nature for some fans to find excuses when their teams are playing like crap.

I don't mind if you point out sketchy calls going Boston's way.

There are games where it most certainly does.

In game 5, Boston was being called for elbows they didn't throw,

while Orlando was concussing the Celtics (literally!) to get a ref poiting the other was in a "play on" mode, while a second ref had to help Glen Davis to stand up. And we can't complain?

On a side note: I could run a 40 minute loop of Paul Pierce on a last quarter iso

showcasing his poor dribbling and eventual turnover.

It's been going on forever and I cringe if he touches the ball just over the half court stripe.

ESPN has officially gone 'Tnak'.

Don't even play Games 6 & 7. According to every 'expert' on the network, eventhough they're still up 3-2 in the series, the Celtics are being compared in every-which-way to the 2004 Yankees and this year's Bruins as sport's all-time biggest chokers.

Well, that was the ESPN I tuned into this morning (primarily AM SC and that show with Skip Bayless). Wouldn't surprise me if they've backpedaled since then.

It's now 3 pm on the west coast, and they're STILL talking about Boston being a sinking ship.

Well that sucked. Hopefully we can get it to 7 and pull off a miracle win. I can't understate my hate for the Lakers right now. I mean of all the people to get a game winner it had to be Ron freaking Artest!? At least it wasn't Luke Walton.

I am a knicks fan, just watched that game, it is unfair playing the lakers at home, they can't win on the road vs the thunder or suns but they have the most luck at the staples center. God not even the yankees get as lucky as the lakers. There is no possible way the lakers miss a game winning shot. NO CHANCE

RON RON FREAKING ARTEST!

Going from taking two dumb, dumb, dumb shots, that abysmal "can't rebound for jack" sequence on the defensive end with Richardson's three, then Artest crashes in on Kobe's airball for the game-winning buzzer beater.

Amazing.

I probably haven't been this jacked up for a Lakers playoff win since Derek Fisher's 0.4 shot against the Spurs. Just the swing of emotion from straight pissed off devastation to pure joy is amazing.

Again, I can't complain too much on the offensive end in this game, barring some dumb shot selection here and there, but it happens. The Lakers problem still remains on the defensive end. Out of position on rebound attempts. Over-extending themselves to cover all areas, then allowing Steve Nash clear passing lanes to dissect the defense. The Lakers have to stay within themselves, they can't try to combat everything the Suns are doing, because they can't cover all of it. Stay within themselves, use their length to clog up the lanes and pick up the boards.

Also props to the restaurant that gave Alvin Gentry the bad avocados  haha just kidding.

GO LAKE SHOW!

Where amazing happens right?

When amazing really happens is if the Suns (provided that they win on Saturday) win at the Staples Center, something the Western Conference seems incapable of doing in the Playoffs. <_<

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: This year's NBA playoffs have, for the most part, sucked and that was by far the best game of the post-season. Easily. By a mile.

That's not luck.

Yeah, that's not luck and it's not "right place at the right time". When Kobe got that ball and went to shoot, Artest was just inside the 3-point arc on the other side of the court. Not luck, just a very heads up play by Artest to realize the ball would fall short and get there. And he wanted that ball more than Jason Richardson, and was smart enough to put it right back up pretty much as he grabbed it. By the way, Richardson banking home that three wasn't luck?

I hate LA as much as anyone, but man that was just a big time heads up play by Artest.

Lakers never seem to lose at home, and I had a feeling there would be no OT.

Now comes the usual game 6 collapse by the home team,

due to the devestation of losing the pivotal game 5 on the road in heartbreaking fashion.

Right place right time for Artest is all, as many times as I watched the replay, I would have just hoped Kobe would have a foot on the line they missed, but anyhow....

Celtics gotta take care of business tonight, they're tired, hurt, and up against the wall, but they take care of business at the Garden. Go C's!
