I'm not sure how 'hardcore' soccer fans are in Ghana, but I can only hope that Asamoah Gyan doesn't become the next Andres Escobar. I feel so bad for that guy right now.

Lets also hope Gyan dose not become the next Donnie Moore.

How about more of an effort in your kicks, Ghana? This is the WORLD CUP, for god's sake!

Damn if only the US could have tied it Saturday, they would have won, since we see Ghana is incompetent in Penalties.

Ghana is twice the team the United States was, as was proven by their effort today. Uruguay would've boateraced the U.S. had they actually gotten by Ghana.

Yup, no doubt about it IMO. Not so sure it's an effort thing, but more a talent and coaching thing.

No way in hell that happens.

That continent was taken on a journey and they know Ghana will be back in 2014.

This game was a true epic at the end... GG Ghana. The fact that they pushed and fought only to fall in PK's show how much heart they have. Remember, most of this team are somewhat young, so if they can reach Brazil in 2014, then they might be Africa's brightest hope.

I for some reason see Argentina beating Brazil in the finals, with Uruguay over Paraguay for 3rd place.

I love when you do stuff like this...

Youngest team in the tournament.

D Hans Sarpei (34) is their oldest player and he didn't even play, They will be back and The Black Stars are now Africa's best team.

Suarez will miss the Semifinal game against the Dutch now.

For what it's worth, he would've missed the semis anyways had he not gone 'Jerry Rice' in the final minute.

And it's a big blow but as long as you have one of the two headed monster that the Uruguayans possess, It'll still be a great match.

Losing to Uruguay in the QF would have given off the same issues about US Soccer as a Ghana loss had. "We lost to ...(Uruguay or Ghana)!" is equal since it was not Brazil/Argentina/Germany.

Forlan would have been the best player on the pitch regardless of who they were going to play today.

Ghana was gassed and still in shock from the last minute of ET.

Roberto Baggio and David Trezeguet may sleep better as each may not have the biggest penalty miss ever.

Lastly, we can now add Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to the list of "white elephants" like the Bird's Nest in Beijing, as Port Elizabeth's bankrupt soccer club was sold to investors from outside the city and may move the team.

I think it's definite that Gyan's missed penalty kick is not the biggest ever. Yes, it would have won the match, but it would have won a quaterfinal match.

I can't think of a crueller exit from a major sporting event than Ghana's last night. They are denied a goal by as blatant a handball as possible, in the last seconds, then miss the resulting penalty. Then the guy who missed steps up in the shoot out and scores. But they still lose! It's like every last tragedy England have suffered in the last 30 years squeezed into 10 minutes!!!!!
