2010 NFL Season

One of the few but rare instances a game is postponed despite playing in a dome!

This just means Roger is saying, "You better vote for a new stadium or we will relocate the team."

Ok, I have to hear your logic on this one. Care to elaborate?

They weather system was apparent days ago, yet NYG Team VP of communications Pat Hanlon wrote on his Twitter account the organization ,?monitored weather all week and moved our departure time up 3.5 hours? from the originally scheduled 1 p.m. departure. Hanlon continued, ?As late as (Saturday) morning and while en route, we were still within the window to make our landing in Minneapolis.?

You leave on Friday.

Also remember, NFL officials also call Soldier Field one of the best surfaces in the league.

So Roger Goodell is going to relocate the Vikings because there was a snow storm in Minnesota and the Giants botched their travel plans?

While I will not totally go "Bengals D" and flinch on your hard count, the MN governor recount was recently decided, and the Vikings are will enter their final year lease at Mall of America Field @ HHH Metrodome in the 2011-12 season. The NYG still could have flown in on Friday night and the snow issue or snow accumulation issue could have been dealt with earlier.

Star Trib reporting half of Metrodome roof panels are gone; press conference at 10AM.

I wonder if they'll move the game to TCF Bank Stadium (or just wait until St. Brett is able to play).

Reports from Minneapolis is that the roof of the Metrodome has actually collapsed.

Wow. What happens now?

The game is played at a neutral site?

Right now, ESPN is saying that it's unclear if they have to reschedule the game again. If they do though, they ought to just play it at New Meadowlands and just call it a Vikings 'home game' like they did for the Saints in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina hit and tore the Superdome a new one.

Detroit or Indy is a logical site to play it at if they can't in the Metrodome...somewhat close to Minneapolis & Kansas City (where each team currently is), they don't have to worry about groundskeeping, they can just show up on a field and play.

Though it would be awesome to see a Vikings home game in bitter cold temperatures...

FOX will show the game at 8pm ET only in the local markets.

Does Rochester, NY count as being in the Giants market or is it Bills only territory. I'm asking this because that's the other FOX channel I get.

Funny you should ask, because ESPN's ticker just said that the rescheduled game would indeed be televised in the market of Rochester...

...Rochester, Minnesota, that is.

Update: On SportsCenter this morning they reported that Favre would not have been able to start the game had it gone off as scheduled. No doubt the conspiracy theorists will have a field day with that bit of news.

They also reported that TCF Bank Stadium was unlikely as an alternate venue because the Giants didn't bring their cold-weather equipment with them.

DirecTV will carry this game on Sunday Ticket for you out-of-marketers...

This is actually at least the 4th time it's happened, and the second time that affected a Vikings game. (The first was in 1982; the game went off as scheduled* but much of the field was soaked by melted snow from the roof.)

NFL Network just announced that the game has officially been called off for Monday night. "Tuesday Night Football" is not an option either, because the roof damage can't be repaired in time.

* This was a game that had already been rescheduled because of the players' strike earlier that year. It was also the same game where Tony Dorsett had his 99-yard TD run.

Wow. I am surprised the roof has survived as long as it has.

I'm watching weather channel, apparently it's collapsed a few times before. Normally, they just get the snow off of it & then pump it back up, but that's obviously not gonna happen in time for Monday.

So yeah, once again, what happens now?

Another reason the Vikings won't want to play at TCF Stadium is because they don't sell alcohol there. At least that was a major reason why the Vikings refused to partner with the U of M when the Gophers were planning their new stadium.

May God bless you all and fill your hearts with faith, hope, and love!

Which was all the more impressive since the Cowboys only had 10 men on the field.

St. Louis has a roof and the Rams are on the road....
