It was nice to see Virginia not pull a Virginia and gack against a team they should have wiped the floor (field) with. I don't expect them to do a damn thing in Omaha, but at least the number 1 national seed made it there. Wahoowa!

What are your opinion of TD Ameritrade Park?

From what I've seen on TV, the place looks nice. It feels different because, let's face it, everyone here knows the history of Rosenblatt and what it meant to college baseball.

To have a new downtown stadium is a great deal for Omaha... Not to mention that it will have other uses outside of the CWS (Creighton has played some games this season at TD Ameritrade Park, not to mention the Missouri Valley held it's baseball tourny here and the UFL's Nighthawks are going to be tenants as well).

Oh, and congrats to Vandy. First ever trip to Omaha and they open up the new park with a 7-3 win over North Carolina.

Yardcocks win their opener to finally start the CWS in the driver's seat for once!

3 of the 4 first game winners were SEC teams (Carolina, Vandy, and Florida)...and all from the same Division in the SEC- talk about strength!

Winners Brackets:

Florida

vs

Vandy

South Carolina

vs

Virginia

Losers Brackets:

Texas

vs

North Carolina

Texas A&M

vs

Cal

Florida/Vandy is going to be a great game tomorrow...hard to pick a winner in that one.

That was by far one of the best games I've ever seen, but it had one of the worst endings I've ever seen. What a heart breaking way for Virginia to go out. Fielding errors killed them.

Not a huge fan of it. Definately a nicer park facilities wise, but the CWS just doesen't seem to have the same character as it did in years past. I'm usually pretty exicted about it as well, but I'm having a hard time getting into these games this year.

Rosenblatt had a very laid back feel to it with a mix of reds, blues and yellows all over the building.

This seems to have an uptight corporate feel to it and every color in the ballpark seems to lie somewhere between dark blue and black. Reminds me alot of the cookie cutter stadiums of the late 60's and early 70's. The place is just about featureless.

I guess that's what they call progress these days, but it seems like they could have done a much better job with designing this place. I look at the stadium the Storm Chasers/Royals got and to me that's a much nicer ballpark and it was built for about a quarter of the money. For what it could have been in my opinion and what Rosenblatt was, I think this new place sucks.

Seems I may be the only left that cares about this thread as teams fell out the tourney, but my Cocks are playing in the championships series tonight against Florida.

What is odd in a personal way for me is that I just moved to Tampa, FL a month ago. Flying my flags feel a bit different here, but I fly proud nonetheless!

Game note: Christian Walker, 1B, is questionable for the series due to a wrist injury sustained against Virginia over the weekend. Replacements could be Robert Beary or Michael Roth (yes, the pitcher).

One of the best games of baseball I have ever seen in my life.

A little late here but I agree. Since there were hardly any MLB games on last night I watched this one almost all the way through. What a game, easily the best college game I have ever watched. My interest in college baseball has been growing a lot lately and this game really was great. The only thing that would've made it better was if Virginia was in it, because there's a kid from this area who starts on their team.
