College Football Uniforms 2011 SEASON

Forget the helmets; does anyone know where I can get the stocking cap Notre Dame's players were wearing on the sidelines tonight? That was the best-looking piece of apparel anywhere on the field.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I can't believe they let Brian Kelly take a dump on Notre Dame tradition like this. The helmet looks like the stickers my daughters can buy in the machine at the coney island. The reflective stickers are right next to the temporary tatoos of unicorns and skulls.

Engine-turned gold-leaf? This is an all-time classic, hand-done technique used on everything from sign lettering to fire trucks to race cars over the years. If the clover had matched the dark green of the jersey, and the numerals and pants were a little brighter and more yellow, like the helmet, these would have been the uniforms of the year.

I thought it was a really interesting technique to use for a helmet. Probably not one I'd like to see every Saturday, at least not on Notre Dame, given how great their normal helmet is, but it certainly has its benefits.

I thought Miami was only wearing all white on the road this year?

They really look better in orange pants. That Miami-FSU game might be a top-3 game this year, uniform matchup wise. So glad FSU still has shiny gold pants.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Just too much difference in the ND's golds to be likable. The different parts of this set all work individually, but there's just too much going on. All together, it's a mess.

On a side not, I think I really like Maryland's crazy helmets when a bunch of Maryland players huddle together. Pairing these helmets with all white seems to help:

Am I seeing things...or did UNLV remove thier helmet stripe? I couldn't see it on that picture. Sorry if that's already been covered, I don't really follow the Rebs at all :P

Regarding UNM, the helmet isn't too bad on it's own, but it doesn't go well with the rest of the uni. The silver helmet goes much better with all of the silver accents than does the white. The white may be better suited for the road whites, I think.

Also, it's bugging me that some Mtn. West teams are wearing the old conference patch while others are wearing the new one.

Yeah it's kind of already been covered... like over a year ago.

Geez, am I late. My bad. I will say, though, UNLV isn't exactly the most relevant program :P

How dare he not remember all of the goings on on this forum from over a year ago. And since all of UNLV's games are nationally televised he should've known they'd removed the helmet stripe.

I wasn't even on this forum a year ago. I just assumed that it had to have been covered, considering you guys cover everything. Plus, didn't UNLV play Wisconsin on the first day of the season? On national TV?

We all cleared our schedules that day to watch one of the, at the time, best teams in the country play one of the worst.

Wow, now that adidas is putting text on the base layer sleeves, I think they've bit every single element of Pro Combat.

Has Nike even put text on the biceps of their undergarments to form a phrase when the player flexes?

But no, adidas haven't copied the ass-ugly, non-school colored design sensibility that Nike's Pro Combat program is so famous for. Not yet at least.

The College Football Uniforms 2011 SEASON/Sarcasm thread is my favourite thread!

Although, knnhrvy16 I do find it a little funny (and i guess understandable) that in one season you already forgot our former conference-mates uni's.

Don't know about quotes, but Ohio State had 'Buckeyes' on the sleeves for their 11/2010 game vs. Michigan. adidas was about a year tardy on the glove patterns and inscriptions inside the jerseys as well, not that those are all good changes.

Speaking of non-school colors, I think UnderArmour takes the cake, shoe-horning schools into their stock wounded warrior sets.

Well, black isn't technically one of their colors, either, but they've worn it for years. They're an odd case.
