2012 NCAA Football thread

Louisville's win tonight is going to boost their attendance next year, their recruiting, their exposure, and their momentum heading into next season. What's GT's win over USC going to do?

The same thing by the same marginal amount. Louisville is still a Big East team playing a Big East schedule, the ACC will not be that much of an improvement down the road, and GTFO with that "momentum" crap. Mind you Louisville's attendance can't get much better.

And wasn't Cola the one who said that the SEC would go undefeated in bowl games? How does that sound now?

Don't think I would have made that prediction...after all, Ole Miss did make the postseason.

Ole Miss will win their bowl game. It pains me to say it, but I have a feeling they will have a very good team next year.

And now he's overcompensating the other direction. Fantastic.

Yes, Louisville over Florida was a surprising win (a result I even gave you crap about a while ago, because I thought there was no way even in a frozen hell it could happen) but there's no need to proclaim it from the mountaintops as the greatest and most best win ever won by any football team on the planet led by the most heartiest and courageousiest quarterback to ever put on shoulder pads.

Yes it was a surprising victory on a big stage from an underdog and by a margin no one expected, but USA/Russia at Lake Placid it's not.

When I flipped on the game and it was 30-10, I was quite taken aback, but quickly turned annoyed by the mere thought of what you would be posting in this thread at the exact same time. I hadn't even clicked on it until just now. That shouldn't be a concern I have.

Congratulations on your victory, now step away from the thread for a minute.

He hasn't said anything in a long time. His last post was talking about the Fiesta bowl. Maybe read the thread before posting next time.

A long time? What thread are you reading?

And yeah, his last three posts that came in quick succession were about things other than Louisville after people complained about him talking about Louisville, hence my "Now he's overcompensating in the other direction" comment.

Maybe you should read the thread.

Someone wanna tell me how Oregon scored a 1-point safety?

If you block a P.A.T., try not to take the ball into your endzone, and try really, really hard not to be tackled with it there.

Granted, three of the victims had losing records, but the Big East is 4-0 vs. SEC teams this season.

Louisville beat Kentucky

Rutgers beat Arkansas

Syracuse beat Missouri

Louisville beat Florida

I expect these people to come out of their trailers and go all "SEC SEC SEC!!!" if Alabama beats Notre Dame.

Maybe not Kentucky people, because basketball season is on.

Seriously? I don't go around saying that California people are all dirty hippies, so you shouldn't generalize Southerners that way. From that statement, I can tell most people who live in mobile homes have more class than you.

I swear more hate is spewed in this thread than the rest of the board combined.

He never said anything bad about Southerners. All he said was that some live in trailers, which happens to be a common type of home in the Southern United States. Is there anything wrong with living in a trailer? I don't think so. The only person to make a some what derogatory statement was you, with your acknowledgement of the hippie stereotype of Californians.

The fact that Collin Klein was a Heisman finalist is embarrassing. Great wing for the Ducks. I think 3 straight 12 win seasons can cement them as a "Big time" program.

Did oregon get the ball back on a punt after that 'safety'?

No. The PAT is termed a "Try Point" since it was after a touchdown. The next play is a kickoff (free kick) to me made by the team who scored the touchdown.

gotcha. I'm surprised the referees knew these rules. Good for them for being thorough.

I saw Collin Klein play in person and I just was not impressed. I don't think he has a great arm. His passes just float out there, and he doesn't have Tebow like running ability. That being said, he won a lot of games and good for him for having a great season for the 'cats.

No. The incoming NCAA sanctions will.

No, the fact that they're going to get a slap in the wrist for stuff they should get a much worse punishment from (liking giving away free Nike stuff to recruits) will.

The fact that Chip Kelly is gearing up to pull a Pete Carroll would suggest that Oregon isn't getting off with just a slap on the wrist.

From every single report I've heard of, they've said "Oregon isn't going to get much". There is no evidence that they'll be hammered at all. Chip Kelly is a hot commodity, and he wants to go to the NFL. I just hope that he doesn't get stuck with the Browns.

Great game. One of the most electric games I've ever been to. I decided to film the opening kickoff, and thankfully I did...
