We have history. First tweet from inside a race car, courtesy of BK2.

They fixed the old surface three years ago with Bondo and it held up for about 40 laps. I'm sure they'll fix it and the rain seems like it's staying away.

Fell asleep and woke up to Dale Jr and co. outside of their car looking at the turn. Instantly came here to see what happened and then went to Nascar.com

Holy crap, I hope no one was hurt. I see JPM got out of the car which is god. But, that was such a freak accident and completely unbelievable. Glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

For people who haven't seen it:

I'm late to the show, but what happened?

Leave it to Juan Pablo Montoya to kamikaze the jet dryer and ruin the track.

I'm kind of hoping they stop the race now just so Dave Blaney can win.

We need a classic Daytona finish. As much as it'd be cool to see him win it.

It doesn't get more "classic" than the epitome of a start-and-park guy winning Daytona due to a fire on the track, does it?

Well no, but you know what I mean. Last lap passes, etc. Who knows Blaney could be in this one in the end, he's been up front most of the night.

That's about as classic as Michael Waltrip sitting on his pitbox and doing the rain dance.

No thank you, not at the Daytona 500.

How can you top the fire? Outside of the Big One happening on the final lap where the track got wrecked.

Two cars battling for the win, while the "Big One" occurs behind them:

Edit: Skip to 1:15.
