guest23
The Opening Ceremonies have never been uber formal, especially at the Summer Games. I guess you skipped that history lesson.when did I say uber-formal? blazer and slacks accompanied by a hat for the men has definitely the traditional uniform for walking the track in the opening ceremonies. but you can be a smart-ass douche if you want because they wore tacky as sweatsuits in '84here's some historyhttp://www.seattlepi.com/sports/article/U-S-Olympic-uniforms-through-the-years-good-3699208.php#photo-3181629

Kevin W.
Are there different styles of berets? Those don't look like the one in the picture of that airman. Kevin W.
I don't see why they couldn't wear military-style berets. They would look good. Would it be bad form for them to wear something derived from the military, though? Would it be bad form for them to wear something derived from the military, though? As long as it's not tan, red, black, or green, I guess it would be fine. The Army thought so highly of berets that they got rid of them in everyday use. I think people might get upset about the heavy military influence, but I don't think it'd be bad form, per se. bosrs1
They look like Starship Troopers. Just waiting for giant bugs to appear.LMFAO! I was thinking the same thing. Just need the Federal Network public service announcement popping up asking "do you want to know more?" to complete the image.
Perfect Zero
The Opening Ceremonies have never been uber formal, especially at the Summer Games. I guess you skipped that history lesson. That doesn't mean you can dress your team like a bunch of athletic slobs. The new set is nice; it shouldn't get this much uproar. So it's either coat-and-tie or "slob". Huh. Good to know. Thanks.Yep, there's no middle ground. MJWalker45
Did anyone else notice the basketball shorts? I didn't realize that the backs are navy and the front white. Stealing a page from Russell, Nike? It's supposed to be the other way around!!! Sorry it's in the wrong area but I couldn't find the topic for the basketball uniforms. FiddySicks
I think the issue that grinds my gears is they are made in ChinaYou're not alone in that regard. Apparently some in Congress, like Harry Reid, are very unhappy about that.I as well find that to be pretty bad, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Just look at the following after 9/11 and the amount of "Patriotic" merchandise people bought that was almost exclusively made in China. This country has pretty much perfected the art of pushing a strong sense of nationalism on it's citizens while outsourcing everything. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. Billy B
An athletic jacket with a shirt and tie on under it makes me immediately think of Joe Paterno. I'll take the blazer that the US and other countries are wearing any day for something like this.
