bosrs1
I liked the Vancouver "Candidate city" logo butter than the one they used.Seems to happen a fair amount. London was the same way.
vman
It's amusing how a multi-billion dollar enterprise like the Olympics always seems to fall far short when it comes to logos. Could they not spend a bit more of that money and keep accepting proposals until something even half decent comes up? Thank God they found a winner in Rio's logo, everything outside of Torino, Lillehammer, Nagano ans Salt Lake has been absolutely horrible (if 90% of them were presented to a prof in a design course today, the student would fail miserably). Lee Noire
I do give London 2012 credit for not doing the typical "logo over city name and rings" thing. Not the best logo but I appreciate its position outside of the box.

London was the same way. lol damn it, I said "butter". Last time I post using my iPhone.I think when it comes to the logo that ends up being used, just too much thinking goes into it. I am guessing for the candidate logos, they just let a graphic designer do what they want for the most part, but in the case of the main logo a lot of government officials want their opinion heard despite usually not having any art background. Most bad logos out their happen because of this reason.Although I though Toronto's 2008 "candidate city" logo sucked. They went too far outside the box. This is like me (an art major) going a random business and telling them they are doing their fiances wrong. Let the person who is trained in the field do their job. Anubis2051
This is still my favorite olympic-related logo of all time:Shame it didn't pan out.
Korkie
The 1984 LA games logo brings back memories of the McDonald's glasses my grandmother had with it on it. My favorite would be SLC's 2002 logo. "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.Tyler: That's neat.Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

winghaz
I really like the Atlanta logo. The Games themselves were overshadowed by problems and, of course, the bombing. And Izzy has to be one of the worst Olympic mascots around. But that logo really stood out.
Titanole
Maybe it's just me being (very) old school, but I really dig this one. You know, say what you will about America. Thirteen bucks still gets you a hell of a load of mice.
Magnum
Gotta go with Torino. The Munich logo kills my eyes. The Rome logo, it looks like they're trying to milk that thing.Would love to hear the reasoning behind the design direction of some of these logos.Glad I wasn't the only one that saw that I liked the '84 LA Games the most and the current one the least. DEAD!
Nagano Winter 1998.I didn't notice it then, but I do now, is each "petal" is a silhouette of a different discipline. Now that I know, it made me appreciate the logo even more. My favourites are Albertville and Barcelona 1992. I remember trying to draw the logos back then. I saw, I came, I left. The Imperfect
I swear I still don't understand that Torino logo...what is it? A mountain? I just see bubbly dots.My favorites would probably be Beijing 08, Athens 04, Seoul 88, Moscow 80, and Helsinki 52...EDI: That Los Angeles '32 logo above is very classy. And why do they have to do some bull running man that looks like he's drawn by a caveman. Like, you can do it once in '92, but why continue it!?
mjrbaseball
The Lake Placid 1980 logo is not exactly correct. That is a modification to the original, which also had the number of the Games, and the rings. Notice how the top has two scoops for the rings to fit into. kw11333
1964 was certainly a design turningpoint, wasn't it?Yes too a point, but 1984 LA gave us the basic template we see today of a fairly artsy logo over the Olympic Rings (minus London)
