NBA Votes Against Sacramento Kings' Relocation To Seattle

According to sources, the BOG is meeting on Wednesday without the Seattle or Sacramento groups and a press conference will happen next Friday in New York.

Looks like by next week someone will be happy while another city will be bitter.

And now, the NBA is punting again. I'm guessing expansion is coming onto the table. These are two good markets and the NBA has had unbalanced conferences before. If they could find a way for each team to pay some sort of fee, all the better.

If I were in charge, I would take these two competing purchase/arena construction offers for the gift horses they are, and make it work in both cities. An expansion draft is is PitA, but so what? (Plus, I'd rather have each team's fourth best player than the scrubs in Sacramento. You're guaranteed one grizzled or high character vet -- maybe Ray Allen comes home?)

Also, if you give Seattle an expansion team, they would have to play a shorter time or not at all at Key Arena, thus saving money for any necessary temporary upgrades.

I'm not sure the Seattle arena deal exists unless a team is secured this year; could the NBA award and begin operations of an expansion team in one off-season?

I'm not sure they'd need to. Seattle just needs to secure a team. I don't think their deal is contingent on said team actually playing in Seattle. So as long as the league grants them an expansion team (which for all intents is a team) they'd be good to go.

An expansion team would have to be at least in 2014-15, if not 2015-16. If they get one signed, sealed, and delivered, I think Seattle City Council would approve.

So one of my good buddies went to the final game at Arco/Power Balance/Sleeptrain Arena/Pavilion/Gymnasium tonight and held up this sign.

Well, at least if the Kings go down, at least they didn't go down without a sense of humor.

This isn't exactly breaking news, but TJ Simers is a truly pathetic hack in every sense of the word.

Here in sacramento—it’s so pathetic to see people begging a crummy basketball team to stay in town.

Yeah saw that last night. What a total douchebag. I will be boycotting any rag that employs that hack going forward. He must've suffered some serious brain damage from that mini stroke he had a few weeks ago to put out an asinine statement like that.

It gets better... some highlights from this hack's most recent article:

The cow bell crowd came to beg some more for NBA attention, maybe the last Kings' game to be contested on this prairie before a move to Seattle.
While the local yokels remained here in their seats long after the game was over, chanting, "Here we stay," there's a lot more basketball to be played in Los Angeles.
A Blake Griffin tip was then the prettiest thing you will ever see in Sacramento.
Del Negro's name should probably be mentioned in consideration for coach of the year honors.

I won't even link to the article because, frankly, he doesn't deserve the pageviews. If anyone's really desperate to read his crap, Google his name, you'll find it.

Uh oh for Sacramento fans: a letter of recommendation to the NBA's finance committee states that the Maloofs favor a sale of the Kings franchise...to the Seattle bidding group.

In other news, water is wet. The Sacto group could offer twice what Hansen is offering, and the Maloofs would still favor Hansen.

These guys are such unbelievable tools. these immature :censored:s are actually holding some sort of petty grudge vs the city of Sacramento. Why? They're going to get paid much more than they ever deserve anyway, why do they feel the need to act like scorned lovers in all of this?

Just go away you dickholes. :censored: the Palms.

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting on Twitter that the NBA has voted down the proposed Seattle relocation.

Interesting, but probably for the best. So where the hell are the Kings off to?

Downtown Sacramento! :winner:

So glad the good guys won, NBA and ESPN both confirmed this as well. Better luck next time Seattle... or not. Really don't care.

I don't know if you have followed this entire saga or not, but Sacramento has put together an ownership group and secured a stadium plan. If this is true, they are basically telling the Maloofs to piss up a rope and forcing them to sell to the Sacramento group.

And, if the NHL was waiting for a return of the Sonics to piggyback the Coyotes into the new arena, those plans are gone now. This may be the domino fall which sends the Coyotes to Quebec, maybe as soon as this offseason.
