9, 6, and 5 are the only numbers in the new typeface that have the cutouts. Awkward.

And sandwiching this in between the unveil photos makes me realize how badly they botched the new look:

For the love of God, stop torturing me...

Yeah...seeing that now, I agree. I'd like to blame Butch Davis for setting the "diluting of identity" wheels in motion by pushing navy so hard, but even still the uniforms themselves still looked respectable. This new stuff just reeks of "O KEWL ME TOO MEE TOO!".

By now pushing all that black, whereas (at least pre-Butch Davis) previously the navy was kept strictly to trim, this new set, to me, also just took a giant dump on the time-honored and storied Di/Phi tradition up there in Chapel Hill.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Man, Nike really dropped the ball on this & UNC was crazy for passing it. They went from having one of the more underrated identities in all of college football to this Arena Football stuff.

That would be a great rebrand for the Carolina Panthers.

Nope. These uniforms are terrible. It would be a giant downgrade for the Panthers, but at least the colors would be (sorta) correct.

I'll believe that black is an official color of UNC when the basketball team takes the floor in all black.

In other words, when hell freezes over.

Eh, I could see that happening, as they have worn gray unis and other once-off crap. Even if black is made an official color and shoehorned into the scheme, it would still be BFBS, though. Sure, they added navy 25 or so years ago, but I could see the reasoning as it at least gave them more depth for outlines and stuff. But swapping out navy now for black was done solely to market to idiots.

UNC has officially been relieved of having the worst football uniform to be unveiled this year thanks to Southern Miss.

Wow, those are awful. The jerseys aren't too bad, but they don't go together with the pants at all. Not that those pants would look good with any jersey, but the least they could do is make it look like they go together.

That is Nike's best sales pitch: at least we won't give you uniforms that look like this.MjKT2oA.png

So many color combinations. I'm not sure if I'm doing the math right but 3 different tops multiplied by 3 bottoms is like at least 9. Throw in 2 helmets and you have 18! Oregon East.

If the black uniforms were Navy I would really like this set!

Remember when this was a North Carolina thread? :upside:

It's not like UNC has enough of a following to have it own thread in the first place.
