TaylorMade
The Philadelphia 76ers have purchased the defunct Utah Flash and rebranded them as the Delaware 87ers.
FiddySicks
That's probably the worst name I've ever heard for a sports team. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)

Burmy
That's probably the worst name I've ever heard for a sports team.Maybe...but it has some good meaning behind it.We all know the 76ers were named after 1776, the year of American independence; the Declaration was signed in Philadelphia. The 87ers refers to Delaware being the first state to ratify the Constitution in 1787, giving Delaware the nickname of "The First State". FiddySicks
Well, I'm glad it has more meaning than just one number up from their parent club, but it's still a bad name. walkerws
87's would've been a better option I think. Logo is very weak. The last three have been horrible and lazy. Santa Cruz, Canton, and now Delaware have been weak. At least Canton and Santa Cruz are a little different.
Lee Noire
I think the Delaware 87s would have been better. The -ers suffix doesn't lend itself very well to all numbers at all.
Tynamo
I assume everyone will just call them the 'Sevens' just like 'Sixers' is the more used name. and
BrySmalls
Good thing they weren't named the Delaware Odyssey, otherwise I would have had a heart-attack.

TalktoChuck
What is with the D-League and all these number names? 14ers, 66ers and now 87ers.
jr79
The circle of stars looks wrong over the 8. It sort of nestles into the curved top of the 7 on the Sixers logo but looks wrong on this one. If they just moved it over to the top of the 7 again...
illwauk
I think the Delaware 87s would have been better. The -ers suffix doesn't lend itself very well to all numbers at all.I think Oners, Fivers, Sixers, Eighters, and Niners all work.
TalktoChuck
Any teen numbers would work with 'ers as well. But yeah, definitely not 7's.
CS85
I like it! The 87ers is dumb when spoken aloud in it's entirety, but considering the team's parent franchise it makes sense. The 87s would've been a cool name on it's own, but as others have said, they'll be called "the sevens" colloquially. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. vmd9
If they have to use the 87ers name I would have rather seen a Los Angeles D-fenders type branding. Pull some design aspects from the parent club, but modernizing and making it more fitting for the D-League.I agree that the league's logos aren't very exciting anymore. But what bothers me the most is the template uniforms they use.
