NFL '13 SEASON THREAD

Thanks for the status update?

My pleasure. It was a placeholder. Instead of going with the same old "never mind", I decided to put the space to use and put together a new post. Thanks for wasting your time in noticing.

I'm reading this post.

Whatever floats your boat.

I've finished reading. Would have been finished sooner but Andy Reid called the first 3 of next season's timeouts while I was reading. Now going to get a glass of water. Possibly pee on the way. Not sure if I need to though. Running the water helps.

Apparently, you didn't get what I meant so I'll explain. The reason the post said "hold on, I'm reassessing this post" is that I had typed one thing, changed my mind, edited the post (that's where the reassessing part came in) and wrote something entirely different from the first one. Thus "placeholder." The post I was reassessing was my own. Get it now?

I'm assessing this post. Finished. I'm just being a dick - relax.

welp it was an unexpected playoff appearance but it sucks losing at home again. Another good draft, lots of cap room and decisions to make at K, WR, DB and the DL, and maybe we're back here again next year

I don't think it's a given that Foles is back next year. He has ways to go but I'm more than willing to give him another year, but I just can't help but think that Chip Kelly just doesn't like him.

Use every single pick on defense. Every single one. I'll give bill Davis a lot of credit. I thought he was an inbred bafoon after hearing him talk the first few times, but he did a nice job with not a lot lf talent. Even his comments after the loss tonight regarding their strategy and conscious choice to leave themselves open to giving up rushing yards kinda made sense. The bottom line is the d isn't and never was good. A few players emerged and that's great - build around them. But I hope they're not fooled by the success they had this season. Every safety on the roster should be not cut but killed (fed to starved dogs, NK style), and they could use help at each other position too (I just think the other players can simply be cut or benched, not killed like the safetys).

The kicker stinks, but we knew that. Shouldn't be hard to replace. Just don't waste a pick.

I think Foles with a full offseason and training camp as the undisputed starter will help a lot, but I think they'll draft or sign a mobile QB that fits Chip's Oregon style to replace Vick

Maclin and Cooper are both FAs, and as of now I think both get re-signed, but this year's draft class looks great and all but 1 or 2 will be there when we pick, so that'll be tempting

Allen, Anderson and Coleman are all FAs, and I think they might re-sign Anderson for ST but that's it. Chung is also in trouble. Byrd or Clinton-Dix could be possible replacements. I also think they need another CB

They also need some DL that'll generate pressure. I think they need a big ass NT and someone to challenge Thornton as a pass rusher

Everyone hates Henery but nobody knows who the next Hauschka or Gould is because all kickers are inconsistent. There were a few times this year where Chip expressed discontent with him and he did it again last night, so I don't think he has a future here. Whoever they get has to be able to make 45+ like it's nothing

They also need to do something about the kick return game. Damaris didn't get it done. Brad Smith was nothing special. DJax hasn't returned a punt for a TD since the Meadowlands miracle

There's a foundation here but they still need a lot of work

I know. It was inevitable. You were actually almost cordial to me a couple days ago. Any time you're cordial to someone, you always follow it up by being a dick. It's just what you do. Don't worry, at no point during your cordial bit did I ever think you were anything other than the miserable jackass we all know and love. B)

Well now you have fodder for your next sh t-talk show. You're welcome. I'm sure I'll get myself removed from every beer list between now and then anyway.

Their whole defensive backfield needs an overhaul. Boykin showed promise and will be here next year. Fletcher played well but is he a real starter on a good team? Cary Williams was up and down. I have no problem with his penalty last night, but he's shown to be undisciplined, immature, and disruptive at practices. I'm not even talking about the whole missing camp to pick out sconces thing.

Their safeties are the worst I've ever seen this team have. Maybe bring back Earl Wolf but the rest need to be given a one way ticket out of town. Patrick Chung might be the worst "regular" in the NFL.

this offensive would have been more spectacular with Maclin. Hopefully he is willing to take an incentive laden deal to come back, or his price will have dropped due to the injury. I think Cooper is not good at all - but he has a role here and clicks with Foles. I'm afraid he's going to turn this season in to a $5m/season demand, and some stupid team will give it to him. He's a good fit here, but is a 4th receiver (or worse) anywhere else.

Nah, not all of them. I'd still have a beer with you - a coke actually. When the hangovers started lasting two days, I had to quit drinking. I like your curmudgeon bit. Keeps people honest.

EDIT: By :censored: talk show did you mean :censored: talk show as in it's an awful show or the next time we talk :censored: on the show? B)

Good Lord, Cincinnati might as well just cut Dalton after this game. What a horrid performance.

Outside of A.J. Green dropping that one actually well thrown ball, Andy Dalton has put on a horror show of a game today, and Cincinnati's cooked. I can't believe what I'm watching. THIS is the same Bengals team that scored 34+ in their last five home games? 10 points against a below average San Diego defense? Atrocious.

Touchdown Chargers! This isn't going to a predate of a few weeks back :)

You pretty well nailed it on this week's show. Nice work.

That's supposed to say "repeat." Damn autocorrect!

Anyway my "homer"ism can sometimes pay off :D

What a shock, Cincy loses a first round playoff game. Marvin Lewis maintains the status quo.
